Minutes of the Regular Meeting of Council Monday, December 16, 2019 Page 3 WHEREAS, grandsons Tom and Jeff Heinen have continued the tradition, currently operating 19 Heinen's locations across the Cleveland area, including one right here in Mayfield Village; and WHEREAS, in 2019, Heinen's Grocery Stores celebrated 90 years in business; and WHEREAS, in May of 2019, Heinen's Grocery Stores were named one of the top supermarkets in the country by Consumer Reports, who ranked them No. 3 nationally after receiving a score of 89 out of 100 on standards such as cleanliness, the quality of its meats and produce, checkout speed and the available selection of local goods; and WHEREAS, Mayfield Village is proud and fortunate to have a Heinen's Grocery Store within its borders and neighboring its Civic Center, and has enjoyed a strong working relationship with the Heinen family over the years. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED that I, Mayor Brenda T. Bodnar, on behalf of Council and all of Mayfield Village, offer heartfelt congratulations to Heinen's Grocery Stores and Tom and Jeff Heinen as they celebrate 90 years in the grocery business. We are honored to witness your continued success as you receive well-deserved national recognition. Mayor Bodnar stated, personal thanks for your superior products and your superior service. We are all looking forward to the next 90 years. Please come on up. Mayor Bodnar presented Mr. Heinen and Mr. Cramer with a framed Proclamation. Mr. Heinen stated, thank you very much. A few words of interest, by the way, I am ready to put you on a commercial. You have that down pretty well. And by the way when I say 19 stores, sometimes I choke too, so you are in good company. Most of you probably don't know, we opened the store in 1979. It was our 10 store. It has been a great store for us. We have remodeled it several times as those of you who have been here long enough know. You captured what we do. Service and high-quality product. I accept this Proclamation on behalf of myself, my brother Jeff, Pat Cramer and the 100 plus associates in the store who really are the ones who make Heinen's shopping experience what it is. Comments From Council President Saponaro I wanted to take this opportunity to thank the residents of Mayfield Village for allowing me to serve on Council for the past 15 years.
