ROLL CALL: AYES: All Motion Carried NAYS: None Expenditure Authorized • First Reading of Ordinance No. 2020-04. entitled, "An emergency ordinance enacting new Sections 521.14 and 521.15 of Chapter 521 of the Codified Ordinances of Mayfield Village concerning electronic smoking devices." Introduced by Mayor Bodnar. (Police Department) Council President Schutt stated, Chief Matias would like this passed as an emergency this evening. Mr. Mills, seconded by Mr. Marquardt, made a motion to suspend the rules of Council requiring an Ordinance to be read on three separate occasions. ROLL CALL: AYES: All Motion Carried NAYS: None Rules Suspended Mrs. Mills, seconded by Mr. Marquardt, made a motion to enact Ordinance No. 2020-04 Council President Schutt asked, discussion? Mr. Coyne asked, did you want the Chief to weigh in? Chief Matias stated, the reason we wanted to do this as an emergency ordinance was by doing the three readings, it kind of extends it out a couple months from the time we can enact it. Again as I described at the Caucus meeting, the reason we wanted to make this local ordinance is to allow us to continue aggressively addressing the vaping problem that has affected all high schools in this area and in the country and by passing this right now we can immediately transition from the State ordinance which isn't effective to the local ordinance which will give us the ability to keep going. If we go for all of the readings, the school year will be over before we can actually get it to where we can start using it. I am asking we do this as an emergency so we can keep addressing the problem immediately. Council President Schutt stated, that makes sense. Any other questions or discussion? There was none.
