I also have to report with great sadness that former
Commission member Bob Perna passed away on February 6th. We have extended our
sympathy to his family and Jan. He came to all the COA meetings since I have been
attending them and sat there with his wife. It was definitely a loss. He was a very nice
gentleman both at COA and he played cards. He was a good guy. He had a good sense
of humor.
Parks and Recreation — As the Mayor spoke, we had our first concert, the Chardon
Polka Band, last Thursday in Reserve Hall. We had about 70 people come out with that
weather. Chardon did entertain everyone for the full hour. There was a lot of clapping.
Most people got up and danced and I encourage that. This week we have Kevin Sutton at
Reserve Hall. He is with Irish Folk and More. The following week we will have Justo
Saborit who does Latin followed by the Cleveland Institute of Music. So, the next three
Thursdays we will have something from 6:30 to 8:30. I am sure we will have 70-80
people again plus this week which are good numbers. I think it will keep on growing. I
really think last week we would have had a full house if it wasn't for the weather. We
had a lot of people who called and cancelled.
Also, I have to thank June for being here. She has been a pleasure to work with. We
started discussing this last summer and then she came back. She is a ball of energy. I am
