Minutes of the Regular Meeting of Council <br />Monday, July 20, 2020 <br />Page 4 <br />And the last thing I wanted to report to you on is that we were advised that there is a real need for <br />poll workers to work in person at the election this year. You know that many of the individuals <br />- - who do work the polls are senior- citizens and a lot of the -m -are choosing not to -work this time- - <br />around because they are more susceptible to COVID-19. So, there is a real need for election <br />workers. Please get the word out. There is training required, so the sooner you get the word out, <br />the better. I ask all the members of Council and whoever's listening to this to spread the word. <br />Anyone who's interested should contact the Board of Elections as soon as possible. <br />That's everything. Thank you Council President. <br />Council President Schutt stated, thank you Mayor Bodnar. <br />Comments from Council President Schutt <br />Although it was already mentioned at a previous meeting, Happy early Birthday to Councilman <br />Denny Murphy. His birthday is next Tuesday, July 28th. Happy Birthday. <br />Our Caucus meeting is scheduled for Monday, August 3`d and the next regularly scheduled meeting <br />of Council is August 17th. At this time, we do not know if these meetings. will be held virtually or <br />in person. The website will. be updated with this information and notification will be sent to the <br />news media as soon as we have that decision. <br />Open Portion — For Public Comment (5 -minute limit imposed by Chair) <br />Council President Schutt stated, Mrs. Betsa has received some comments and will read them into the <br />record. <br />Michael Girbino <br />6815 Meadowood Dr <br />I hope all is well. I understand that some consideration is being given to increasing the <br />Mayor's salary and fortifying the wage package with health care benefits and thought I <br />would take a moment to weigh in as both a long time resident and retired full time <br />administrative employee. <br />I have been of the belief for many years that the Mayor's position was grossly underpaid. <br />The demands of the position, liability, stress and time commitment certainly in my opinion <br />justify a much higher rate of pay as well as access to other benefits including health care. <br />As the Village is no longer the sleepy little town I began working for in 1985, or chose as <br />the community to make my home and raise my children in back in 1990, I believe the <br />Mayor's position could justifiably be a full-time job with salary and benefits comparable <br />to a full time department head. That said, as a resident I fully support increasing the <br />
