Minutes of the Regular Meeting of Council
Monday, February 21, 2022
Page 3
Joan Gottschling
Mayfield Township Historical Society
I would like to say hello to the new Council members. Congratulations. I am here to thank
Mayfield Village for their generous continuing grant money that they give us every year. It helps
us with our programming, our activities, our special events, our school children visits that come
every year; the third graders from all of the schools in the district. We are very grateful for your
continued support for that money. It really helps us.
It has been a tough couple years. We didn't get to do the school visits in person but we did it
virtually and it was very interesting what you can do with an I -phone and ham it up. I tell you it
was fun. But hopefully we will be able to do the visits again in person because I think the children
really get a very good, not only taste of what it was like in the olden days, but the questions are
the best, what they come up with. They don't understand how it was and the questions tell you
that they are figuring it out, especially about the little pot under the bed and outhouses, the hickory
stick the teachers used to use and the dunce caps, things like that. I think they are very appreciative
for what they have now in their own schools. So thank you again.
We hope that if any of you Council people have a small committee meeting that you would like to
use the House, we can set up chairs and tables. We have coffee and snacks for you. The Citizen's
Advisory Committee usually meets there in October. If any of you would like to, let us know and
we will set it up for you.
The other thing I would like to influence you on is the fact that you are out in the community with
your constituents, you talk to them and sometimes you might hear somebody that is interested in
history or maybe looking for a volunteer activity, an hour a month, an hour a year, whatever. Send
them our way, because we could use them. Thank you.
Council President Schutt stated, thank you, Joan. Thank you for everything that you do for the
Historical House as well.
Council President Schutt asked, are there any other comments for our open portion?
There were none.
Department Head Reports:
Administration — Ms. Wolgamuth — Thank you Council President. I have no report. I just
wanted to thank all of you for the birthday wishes. It was an awesome day. This was a big birthday
for me. It was pretty pleasant. Thank you very much.
Council President Schutt stated, you're welcome and thank you.
C
