I would like to echo the Mayor's comments as well. We appreciate all of your
efforts as well, Mayor Bodnar as well as all of the Village employees and volunteers who help us
move forward and position us well for the future. Thank you to everyone. I also want to thank
Mrs. Grey and Officer Hocevar for their heroic efforts in saving that boy's life.
For any of the extreme procrastinators, today is tax day. You have only a few hours left to file
your taxes or seek an extension.
Our next Caucus meeting is scheduled for May 6`h. The next Regular Meeting of Council is May
20`h.
Open Portion — For Public Comment (5-minute limit imposed by Chair)
Council President Schutt stated, if anyone wishes to speak, please come up to the podium and state
your name and address for the record.
Rick Christian
510 SOM Center Road
I moved into the Village in 1988. Just before I moved in, the road widening started. After I moved
in, SOM Center Road was widened. Sam Costanzo bought the property next to me and then the
city took the property over to give it to the Library. When Sam lived there, he put in a culvert
between his property and mine with a drainage pipe to drain directly to the storm sewers. When
the Library came in, they dug the pipe out and put in a culvert between my property and theirs. I
don't know how many times I have contacted the Library about this culvert. They don't keep the
grass cut. They don't muck out that culvert. I have had to go out there and muck it out several
times over the years. I brought this up to Council several times that the culvert is full of water and
it's constantly full of water. Now I have been diagnosed with nocardia. It's a rare lung infection
caused by standing water. The only standing water around me is the culvert between my house
and the Library. Like I said, I have had to go out there and muck that thing out and get the leaves
out of it because the Library won't take care of it. I contacted the Library. Nothing's been done.
I contacted Council. Council can't seem to get the Library to do anything either. Now I have been
diagnosed with nocardia and I am on massive amounts of antibiotics. I have had reactions to the
antibiotics. I don't understand why you can't put a culvert in there, a drainpipe or a culvert; they
put a cement culvert on the other side where Ducys used to live before the city came and bought
them out. The city just doesn't want to do anything about the problem this is creating. Now I am
taking Albuterol. I am taking Togamycin, Doxycycline just to keep my lungs clear because of this
infection that I probably got from this standing water next to my house. I think something should
be done. Thank you.
