Minutes of the Regular Meeting of Council
Monday, April 15, 2024
Page 9
Shane McAvinew (Parks and Recreation) — Thank you Council President. I have a couple of
items. Thank you to everyone who helped out for the Easter Party. Mother Nature did not treat
us very well again this year. We moved indoors and it was very successful. Everyone enjoyed it.
It turned out very well. Thank you. Also, talking about volunteers like Council President Schutt
brought up, we have a couple of volunteer opportunities come about. May 121h is the Mother's
Day Pancake Breakfast. We always need volunteers for that event. It will be in the Civic Center
again this year. On June 81h, we have our annual great event for the Village, Cruise Night. We can
always use volunteers to help us on t-shirt sales, concessions and other things. Anything you can
do to help out, we would really appreciate it. The Grove Restroom still has a couple of weeks to
go. I would suspect we will be into the second half of May before it's completed. Originally it
was going to be completed by June 81h. We are ahead of that schedule. We have stayed ahead of
that schedule. Lastly, the Parks subcommittee for the scholarships met and they have selected five
Mayfield Village Seniors to be awarded the Mayfield Memorial Scholarship in honor of Debbie
Hudacko. More information will come on that at the end of the month. I will write an article in
the July VOV highlighting the kids and their accomplishments. That scholarship is funded mainly
through Grove donations. That's why I enjoy collecting money there because it goes right back to
the kids of Mayfield Village to help them out. With that, I will end and if there's any questions,
please let me know.
Council President Schutt stated, thank you, Mr. McAvinew. Are there any other reports this
evening?
There were none.
OLD BUSINESS
Second Reading of Ordinance No. 2024-06 (As Amended), entitled, '`An ordinance
amending Codified Ordinance Section 1175.00 relating to definitions applicable to the Beta
Core Commercial District to define professional offices." Introduced by Mayor Bodnar
(Building Department) (First Reading — March 18, 2024) (Upon Third Reading and
passage, this legislation will take effect 30 days thereafter.)
Council President Schutt asked, discussion?
Ms. Calta stated, this is the ordinance where we talked about adding in surgical centers. We did
come up with a definition that we all felt comfortable with that would also specifically identify
surgical centers. Just surgical centers, nothing that would be inpatient surgical centers. It's all
outpatient. It doesn't require any additional emergency room or other requirements under State
law.
Council President Schutt stated, thank you, Ms. Calta. Any other discussion?
There was none.
