Organization: Village of Mayfield
Protection
Agency
Project Impact
What is the area impacted by this project? What percentage of your equipment or storage area will benefit from this proposal? Example responses might
include: 100%of our fleet will be upgraded with calibrated equipment. Include a description of operations and your project's site and service area.
(If more space is needed please add additional sheet labeled with question heading.)
Replacing the salt dome roof will immediately impact and improve 100% of the salt storage structure.
e entire Village of Mayfield will also be impacted as the Service Department will be able to effectively and efficiently implement their deicing program
m this location for decades to come. Snow & ice control plow trucks are loaded and staged at this property during winter weather events. Replacement
the dome roof will help continue these operations which ensure public road safety throughout all of Mayfield Village during winter weather events.
This project will also directly impact and improve the quality of the immediate surrounding watershed by eliminating the unintended salt water runofffrom
the salt enclosure. Improving Mayfield Village's stormwater quality contributes to improved water quality of shared public resources such as nearby Chagrin
River and Lake Erie. Mayfield Village's Operations and Maintenance program, as directed by the Ohio EPA MS4 permit, requires constant attention to
pollution prevention for municipal operations. The principal function of the salt storage structure is pollution prevention. The salt dome keeps toxic levels
of road salt out of surrounding watersheds. Maintaining the structural integrity of the enclosure ensures the deicing salt is only appropriately applied where
and when intended; on Village roadways during snow and ice events. This project will allow Mayfield Village to continue to ensure its deicing operations
support high storm water quality resulting in minimal or zero harm to wildlife and environment.
H2Ohio Rivers Chloride Reduction Grant
Page 3 of 7 12/8/2023
rQ'✓ Environmental H2Ohio Rivers Chloride Reduction Grant
J Protection Organization: Village of Mayfield
Agency
