Minutes of the Regular Meeting of Council <br />Monday, May 20, 2024 <br />Page 3 <br />Comments From Council President Schutt <br />Thank you Mayor Bodnar. <br />I would also like to extend my condolences to the fallen Euclid Police officer as well. <br />Our next Caucus meeting is scheduled for June 3`d. The next Regular Meeting of Council is June <br />17th. Both meetings are in this room at 7:00 p.m. <br />Open Portion — For Public Comment (5-minute limit imposed by Chair) <br />Council President Schutt stated, if anyone wishes to speak, please come up to the podium and state <br />your name and address for the record. <br />Art Goldstein and Marilyn LaRiche-Goldstein <br />6467 Derby Drive <br />Dear Mayor Bodnar — <br />Thank you for your letter informing us of tonight's council meeting agenda regarding proposed <br />legislation banning commercial production, processing, and retail sales of Marijuana in Mayfield <br />Village. Unfortunately, we are not able to attend tonight's meeting. However, we would like to <br />make our position known that we support your proposed legislation. <br />Thank you also for providing Mr. Marquart's and Ms. Calta's insightful report on the City of <br />Eastlake's experience implementing commercial production in their community. We agree with <br />the report findings, suggesting only a minimal economic advantage for Mayfield Village, should <br />a similar course of action be pursued. <br />Over the years we have been consistent regarding our position on legalizing recreational <br />Marijuana. In our view, it poses an added burden on our limited safety forces to prevent tragic <br />accidents resulting from OVI impairment.
