Minutes of the Regular Meeting of Council
Monday, June 17, 2024
Page 5
4. It is important to note that neighboring communities such as Beachwood,
Highland Heights and Pepper Pike (in the process) have banned growing
and processing facilities as well as retail distribution of marijuana.
Why would we think otherwise?
5. Such facilities and operations would impact property values and potentially
weaken the reason people would choose to buy in Mayfield Village.
We must stand strong that a marijuana production, processing facility and retail
distribution contradicts the residential life of Mayfield Village. Therefore, we are
in agreement with the ban and support of Ordinance 2024-09.
Jean Triner
829 Hanover
I am going to make it very short and sweet. I just want to say we really appreciate
the thought that Council and the Administration have given to Ordinance 2024-09.
On behalf of myself and others I've talked to, we just ask you to vote in favor of
the ban. Thank you.
Mark Granakis
872 Hardwood Court
I just want to speak on this marijuana issue and an establishment, I hope not, of any
business that has anything to do with marijuana. Much of my family lives here in Mayfield
Village and has been for quite some period of time. Some of them are here tonight.
Other ones couldn't make it, but on behalf of them as well as myself, I urge Council
to absolutely not do anything that would affect having Mayfield Village as a
headquarters or an outpost for marijuana. Thank you.
Michelle Kay
SOM Court
Mayfield Village
As is alluded to, I sent a letter in reference to the banning. As I mentioned in my
letter, it's minimal contributions and certainly not a definite windfall. I really don't
need to go through all of the points in my letter. As I indicated, you already have
that. However, I think what's important is is that surrounding communities,
Beachwood, Highland Heights, Pepper Pike and others have banned the growing
