Minutes of the Regular Meeting of Council
Monday, June 17, 2024
Page 7
not necessarily as residents or not even as your constituents, although we are both,
but we come as your neighbors and we are from different parts of the Village. As
your neighbors, hopefully your good neighbors, we ask you to please to consider
supporting as is without amendments or time limitations Ordinance 2024-09 which
prohibits the cultivation, processing or retail dispensary of adult -use cannabis
within Mayfield Village. We ask for your support. Thank you.
Kathy Baker
826 Hanover Road
I spoke at the last meeting so I don't need to belabor the points. I had a great
opportunity to speak with the citizens a few weeks ago. It was really a great
conversation and definitely everybody there was very supportive of the ban. The
only thing I would like to add definitely putting a highlight on my concerns, we all
had the opportunity to tour the Police Department which was a really interesting
thing to do; a great opportunity. What I would leave the Council with is when we
walked by the evidence room, the Chief said boy, you don't want to go in there if
you want to not smell marijuana. This is the problem. It's not that it's not legal,
but it's still not Federally banned and it's still not a family friendly component. We
have seen from the economic report it's just not the panacea to the Progressive
shutting down Campus 1. I actually work for Progressive as an attorney. I think
consider the evidence room in the Police Department that was the comment made
to our group. Thank you.
Council President Schutt stated, thank you everyone.
Department Head Reports:
Dan Russell (Building) — Thank you Council President. I will be reporting on the meetings held
in the past month. The first meeting was the May 21 St BZA meeting. We received one application
for a front yard setback variance. It was approved. The second meeting was May 23`d ARB
meeting. We received three applications. The first one was for a front porch addition. That was
tabled. The second and third application were for two houses on Montebello which where both
approved. The third meeting was a special meeting for ARB. We received one application for a
new house. This was also tabled. The fourth meeting was on June 3`d. It was for a P/Z vote for a
lot split consolidation on Village Trail. This was approved to recommend to Council. The fifth
meeting was the June 13th ARB meeting. We received two applications, one for a front porch
addition which was approved and the second was for a single family home. It was also approved.
That's all I have.
Council President Schutt stated, thank you, Mr. Russell.
Tom Cappello (Engineer) — Yes, Council President. I have two items to report on tonight. One,
as you may be aware, Highland Road has had some traffic congestion. ODOT is doing work on
