Minutes of the Regular Meeting of Council
Monday, July 15, 2024
Page 2
Comments From Mayor Bodnar
Thank you Council President, this is a rare day. You can write it down because I have no
comments this evening.
Council President Schutt stated, thank you, Mayor.
Comments From Council President Schutt
I just have a couple of comments. First, I just wanted to remind everyone that our August Council
Caucus meeting is scheduled for August 51h. The Regular Meeting of Council is on August 191h
Also, I just wanted to make a couple of comments from the events that happened this past weekend.
I just hope everyone will keep the family of Corey Comperatore who lost his life protecting his
family from the gunshots this past Saturday. Not only was Corey a firefighter and a hero, he also
saved his daughter's life. Also, keep in your prayers, David Dutch, James Copenhaver and former
President Donald Trump who were also injured by the gunfire and everyone else in attendance as
well in Butler, Pennsylvania as well as those around the world that unfortunately saw this horrific
event that took place during former President Trump's rally this past Saturday. Regardless of our
political viewpoints, there's no place for this type of violence in our country. It seems that some
have lost the sense that it's okay to disagree and agree to disagree and that having different beliefs
is okay. I just hope that this unfortunate circumstance brings our country together and closer. It's
been over 40 years since a President, former President or President -candidate has been shot or
attacked. I hope that we never have to witness this again. God Bless America. Thank you for your
time.
Open Portion — For Public Comment (5-minute limit imposed by Chair)
Council President Schutt stated, if anyone wishes to speak, please come up to the podium and state
your name and address for the record.
Alice Enkler
6500 Wilson Mills
Mayor Bodnar and Council, thank you for this opportunity to speak to all of you this evening. My
name is Alice Enkler. My husband John and I live at 6500 Wilson Mills Road. John and I have
been blessed to live in this house for over 10 years. We were very upset to receive a notice that
the city was choosing to sell this home and we needed to vacate in 82 days.
Please give me a few minutes to share some information and to hopefully ask for reconsideration
of this at this time. My husband John who is with us tonight is terminally ill. He has Stage 4
metastatic prostate cancer and it's now in his lungs. He has end -stage COPD and Parkinson's
disease. Despite our efforts to combat the cancer, it is a terminal diagnosis. Although we continue
with medications and treatments to try to bide time, there is no cure. John is on 24/7 oxygen.
