Minutes of the Regular Meeting of Council <br />Monday, December 16, 2024 <br />Page 5 <br />To Councilman George Williams: <br />I am honored to extend my heartfelt Congratulations to Councilman Williams on <br />your retirement and wonderful career with Mayfield Village Council. Your <br />contribution to public service has undoubtedly had a profound and positive impact <br />on our community. Councilman Williams' dedication to community and integrity <br />offers inspiration to all who know him. I am honored to acknowledge and celebrate <br />your accomplishments. Thank you, George for your years of service in helping <br />guide Mayfield Village's 4ch Ward. Your retirement marks the end of an excellent <br />career here and I wish you well in all future endeavors. <br />Congresswoman Shontel Brown <br />Councilman Williams stated, thank you. <br />Mayor Bodnar stated, you can go back to your seat, but there's one more thing. Everyone <br />knows that Resolutions and Outstanding Citizen's Awards are things you can put on the <br />wall and are very nice to have, but they won't help you out when you are thirsty. We got <br />you something to help you out when you are thirsty; a little bottle of something good and <br />some monogramed glasses. So when you are down there and it's warm in the south and <br />having a good time, you can drink a toast to your friends at Mayfield Village. <br />Mayor Bodnar stated, ladies and gentlemen, please join me one last time in thanking <br />George Williams for all of his service to Mayfield Village. <br />Councilman Williams stated, thank you. I just told someone this evening that I have this <br />saying that time moves so slow so fast. I can't believe it has been 9 years amongst you as <br />your Council representative. I thank you for the opportunity. We thank you for your <br />friendship, your neighborhoodship if you will in Mayfield Village. I'll see you soon. <br />Thank you. <br />Mayor Bodnar stated, thanks. So now we are going to go back to the first item that was on <br />the agenda. <br />Swearing in Ceremony of Sergeant Steven Palka <br />Mayor Bodnar stated, this evening I have the honor of swearing in Mr. Steven Palka as the new <br />Sergeant on Mayfield Village's police force. Sergeant Palka, I hope that is sounding a little more <br />normal for you. I congratulate you on this promotion. I know that it is well-earned. Before I <br />swear you in, Chief Matias would like to say a few words. <br />Chief Matias stated, thank you Mayor. For those of you who don't know Steve, Steve's been with <br />the Mayfield Village Police Department since 2013. He is currently assigned to the patrol division. <br />He is a member of the SPAN SWAT team, a certified instructor for pistol rifle and red dot sites, <br />
