Minutes of the Regular Meeting of Council <br />Monday, December 16, 2024 <br />Page 4 <br />committees, including the Community and Economic Development Committee and the Mayfield <br />Union Cemetery Committee; and <br />WHEREAS, throughout his tenure, George has been a dedicated representative of Ward 4, serving <br />as the de facto head of the Worton Park Homeowners Association, holding regular community <br />meetings to determine the needs of his neighborhood, communicating to the neighborhood through <br />updates in the Voice of the Village, and advocating for solutions to address traffic concerns, the <br />increasing deer population, and neighborhood flooding; and <br />WHEREAS, George also took an interest in understanding how the Village's safety forces <br />function, regularly scheduling time to meet with the Chiefs and go out on calls with Police and <br />Fire employees; and <br />WHEREAS, most recently, Geoge advocated strongly for the Values -in -Action Kindland <br />Initiative, receiving unanimous support from his fellow Council members in 2023 for Mayfield <br />Village to become a member, and working with the members of the Citizens Advisory Committee <br />on ideas to advance its goals; and <br />WHEREAS, George and Loretta Williams have determined that it is time to leave Mayfield <br />Village and live nearer to family in the warmer climes of North Carolina. They will be missed by <br />all. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF MAYFIELD VILLAGE, <br />OHIO, THAT: <br />George Williams be and is hereby recognized and congratulated for <br />his many years of dedicated and exceptional service to Mayfield Village and the <br />residents of Ward 4. On behalf of Mayor Bodnar, fellow Council Members, Department <br />Heads, staff and the residents of Mayfield Village, Ohio, we wish George <br />and Loretta many years of good health and happiness, <br />enjoying precious time with their children and grandchildren. <br />Council President Schutt stated, Congratulations, George. <br />Mayor Bodnar stated, in addition to this Resolution that was passed unanimously by Council this <br />evening, we also have something that is normally given out a certain time of the year, but we made <br />an exception for you and that is we have named you an Outstanding Citizen of Mayfield Village. <br />Mayor Bodnar presented Councilman Williams with a plaque commemorating the award. <br />Mayor Bodnar continued, one more thing. We have a very special Certificate of Special <br />Congressional Recognition from Councilwoman Shontel Brown. I know you have worked with <br />her and supported her efforts in our area.
