Minutes of the Regular Meeting of Council
Monday, September 23, 2024
Page 4
Council President Schutt stated, thank you, Ms. Wolgamuth.
Shane McAvinew (Parks and Recreation) — Thank you Council President. I do have a handful
of items tonight. Just a reminder of the Senior Snow Removal Program. We are coming up to the
October 15`" date. After October 151", it's up to the contractor if they can add anyone or not. We
are quite a few driveways behind this year compared to normal. I am concerned that people got
an easy winter the last two years and are backing off a little bit and do not think it's going to be
bad. A lot of times I can't guarantee contractors in January or February. We do our best. Once
the contractor fills here, they fill other spots in other communities. If you know of anyone who
would benefit the program, please give them a nice reminder.
Tomorrow, September 241" we have the Parks and Recreation Board meeting in this room at 6:00.
We have a handful of subjects. One of the things we are going to talk about is how we move
forward with the Scholarship Fund. This year we collected over $10,000 for the Scholarship Fund
at the Grove. That's double the amount we collected in 2023. People were very generous. One
lady in particular was very very generous. She gave me a check for $1,000 to go to the Scholarship
Fund. Next year, 20% goes to the Rainy Day Fund. 80% goes back to Mayfield Village seniors.
We have a handful of volunteer opportunities coming up. On October 19`" we have the Trick or
Treat Trail, hopefully outdoors. I have a sign-up sheet here. The time is 10:30-1:30. The event
is 11:00-1:30.
On December 61", we are doing the Tree Lighting at 5:30 at the Community Room. If anyone
would like to volunteer to help pass out donuts, let me know. We added Breakfast with Santa the
next day. Before the float goes out, the kids in the Village will have breakfast with Santa with
games and activities at the Community Room at 8:00 in the morning on December 71". If anyone
is interested in volunteering, let me know. We also have recruited our Santa again this year for
the float. That will be on December 7`" after the breakfast. You will see the Grinch, Santa, the
float and a handful of other things coming around the Village.
Last but not least, the Menorah Lighting is on Thursday, December 26`" from 5:30-7:00 at the
Community Room. We have a few spots available there to help pass out hot chocolate and donuts.
If anyone has any questions, I would be happy to answer them.
Council President Schutt stated, thank you, Mr. McAvinew.
Dan Russell (Building) — Thank you Council President. I only have one item. ARB met on
September 121" to consider a proposal from Frances Haines for an addition to their home which
was approved. That's all I have.
Council President Schutt asked, any questions?
There were none.
