Minutes of the Regular Meeting of Council
Monday, April 21, 2025
Page 7
is a graduate of Lake Erie College and I we are looking forward to working with Logan and hoping
her much success in her long tenure here at Mayfield Village.
Our Service Department continues to do a fantastic job in keeping Mayfield Village in tip-top
condition. Just having come off of a busy plowing season, the Service Department is now getting
outdoors and getting them in shape for the Spring and Summer activities.
Parks & Recreation continues to operate successfully and with panache. Our Recreation Director
Shane McAvinew and Assistant Recreation Director Danielle Echt are doing an amazing job with
special events and programming, along with our newest Recreation employee, Samantha Clark -
Cartwright who has settled into her job as our Senior Program Coordinator.
At the Building Department, work continues at the Montebello subdivision on Highland Road with
21 homes already occupied there and three new homes built there last year. This year, the
subdivision is building their third St. Jude's Dream Home. Overall, last year saw a decrease in
home construction which we believe can be attributed to interest rates climbing. On the
commercial side, we saw a modest increase in permits issued for major improvements. That was
mostly due to renovations at Progressive Headquarters at Campus 2 where everything's been
consolidated.
I often receive compliments, not only on the programs and services that we provide, but also on
the professionalism and the courtesy of the people who provide them. That is a testament to our
members of Council, the Administration and to all of our workforce team And because of our team
efforts, despite the financial challenges we've faced coming out of the pandemic, Mayfield Village
remains in a strong position to continue delivering top-notch services to our residents and our
businesses.
Thank you.
Resolution of Appreciation for Paul Jablonski
Mayor Bodnar stated, now we are going to bid farewell to our retiring Police Lieutenant Paul
Jablonski who has the biggest smile in the room. After that, we are going to swear in our newest
patrol officer, Davor Karac. Chief Matias, I believe you have a few words to share for Mr.
Jablonski.
Chief Matias stated, again, we just all want to congratulate Lieutenant Jablonski after 29 and a half
years of service to Mayfield Village. He will be retiring this Friday. He has a couple more days
to go. During his almost 30 years, he served in just about every capacity as Patrol Officer,
Sergeant, Patrol Sergeant, in the Detective Bureau for a while, and then the past 14 years he has
been our Lieutenant. One of the key things I would like to point out and I said this from the
beginning, all of our big events here in Mayfield Village are always high profile between Cruise
Night and Fireworks, all the Grove events. One thing I learned quickly after I became Chief is I
don't have anything to do with that. That's all Lieutenant. Over the past 14 years, all of these
great events we have had, he has organized them, put everything together, and made sure we are
