Minutes of the Regular Meeting of Council
Monday, April 21, 2025
Page 5
approved by the voters. At this time, we have made no moves to seek a rezoning of Campus 1,
and we remain in regular conversation with Progressive as we collaborate to seek end -users that
will benefit us both.
Another more positive item on the horizon is the construction of a new commercial building at the
north end of the Village, north of Progressive's Campus 2 and near the Governor's Village facility
on North Commons Boulevard. Gunton Corporation, a locally -owned independent distributor of
Pella Windows in Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, New Jersey and Delaware, has partnered
with a local developer, Premier Mayfield, to move its offices and distribution center to the Village.
The property in question is currently zoned "Residential" and the Village has introduced legislation
to put this 15 acres of land on the ballot in November for rezoning to "Production/Distribution."
Gunton projects that about 70-75 employees will be moved into the facility. That would generate
about $120,000 in municipal income tax within the first year. There are projections over the next
10 years that they could possibly go into 95 employees, generating roughly about $152,000 in
annual income tax revenues. More detailed information will be shared with residents over the
summer months and a public hearing on the rezoning is being scheduled for June. I am proud that
the Gunton Corporation has chosen Mayfield Village as its new home. Gunton has been a family -
owned business since 1932 and has an excellent reputation. The developer, Premier Development,
has been in the real estate business for over 25 years with a great track record in the Village,
redeveloping 6655 Beta Drive in 2016 as the home of two of the Village's most successful
businesses —Quality Electrodynamics and Mars Electric.
Also on the economic development front, we welcomed seven new small businesses to the Village
in 2024, mostly along Beta Drive, where we also saw a few high -profile real estate transactions.
In September of last year, Canon Healthcare USA, Inc. celebrated the Grand Opening of its new,
modern, training facility on Beta Drive, Canon Medical Academy USA, with a mission of creating
a dynamic learning environment where healthcare professionals can elevate their expertise and
address healthcare challenges with the help of advanced education and training. Mayfield Village
has always been proud to be the home of Quality Electrodynamics, a Canon subsidiary whose
components power the world's leading medical imaging equipment and is equally honored that
Canon Medical Academy USA now calls Mayfield Village its home.
The former Rockwell Automation property at 6680 Beta, largely vacant since COVID, was
acquired by Process Technology, a leading supplier of thermal and power supply equipment for
metal finishing and semiconductor industries. Our staff is working with the Company on plans to
locate its power supply manufacturing operation here in Mayfield, possibly as early as this
summer.
Our Economic Development Manager, John Marquart, has been instrumental in both setting the
table for economic success and bringing guests to that table to grow and prosper in Mayfield
Village. As we grow our economy, we are mindful of our economic position and spending
capabilities.
Last year, General Fund revenues totaled $18.4 million and General Fund expenditures were about
$15.9 million. Once again, despite our challenges, our earnings exceeded our spending. We ended
