Minutes of the Regular Meeting of Council
Monday, April 21, 2025
Page 11
Tom Lindic
6524 White Road
I happen to rent one of the properties that you guys are trying to purchase. I am having a hard time
trying to wrap my head around why you would want to cut off a section of your city at the northern
end to put in a 10-15-20,000 square foot building when you have all of this other property. You
have all that Progressive property. You drive down 91. You have a plot of property there. It's 50
some acres. Why would you want to cut down a tiny little wetland at the corner of your north side,
and disrupt your neighbors that live in Willoughby Hills which are right across the street? Now
you got to deal with Lake County. There's got to be a wetland thing in there.
You guys own two of the properties. It appears to me you have no interest in them whatsoever.
You have one that has a garage and a shed on it. I called your Commissioner and asked if I could
rent a garage. I would be willing to rent a garage to give you guys revenue, whether it's $100-200
a month, whatever. The response that I got from your office was there's no electricity so the garage
door don't open. I don't know about any of you guys but I have had garages that didn't have a
garage door opener. It has a man door. I can rent that property. You guys don't do anything. We
had a storm a year ago or so. I had to call you guys to let you know that you had a tree that was
probably 24 inches in diameter laying on top of your garage. Nobody did nothing until I called.
Your other rental property on the other side of me there was another storm where the electricity
got ripped out. It ripped the power box, the main feed, right off the house. It sparked it. You can
go there today, tomorrow. Go look at it. Nobody did nothing about it until I called because I
couldn't get out of my driveway. You are trying to buy two properties that people own, one that
lives there who owns it, the other one that owns it and I rent from him. I see the two properties
that you guys own. You guys are like slumlords. Why is that garage still standing if it's not useful?
If you can't rent it to me, what's it doing still standing? If you are letting trees fall on it, why is it
still there? There's a total vacant shed behind it. I've seen skunks and racoon families running in
and out of it. Your other house that you rent, the roof looks like a Chiai pet. It has about this much
moss growing on it. Evidentially you guys don't care about that property. It seems to me that you
guys are just trying to for some reason or other, someone's palm is getting greased or something
else to try to get rid of this corner property. I ask you, if you were living across the street, would
you want to see a development, a factory going in across the street from you when you are living
in a nice quiet neighborhood and everything else when there's all this other property you guys
have in the Village, especially the 56 plus acres that are already on an industrial roadway off of
91. You want to scoop this up and put it between residents in Willoughby Hills and a retirement
home. How would that make any sense to you? If your family members were in one of them
retirement homes, would you want them hearing trucks loading, off-loading, every morning? You
say it's only 4 to 5 and everyone is back between 3 and 4, but who wants to hear that? I really
don't get your planning on this. Maybe if you can address that to find out what the actual thing is.
What were your figures? You were going to get like $120,000 a year in revenue the first year? Is
that what is was or something close to it?
