RESOLUTIUN N0: 82- 73 <br />INTRODUCED BY: Mayor & Council as a Whole <br />A RESOLUTION RATIFYING THE ACTIONS OF <br />THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL AND ESTABLISHING <br />At7GUST 27, 28, A1VD 29, 1982, AS "BE'.CA <br />DAYS" IN THE MT. VERNON CAMPUS PARK, <br />ESTABLISHING TERMS AND COIVDI7IONS THEREFOR, <br />AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council of Mayfield Village recognize <br />the current economic slump has adversely affected the business <br />community as well as consumers; and <br />WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council further recognize that the said <br />economic slump has affectecT the businesses located in the Mt. Vernon <br />Campus Park; and <br />WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council recognize that since the opening <br />of the Mt. Vernon Campus Park the.businesses located therein have <br />provided substantial revenue to the municipality through the payment" of <br />the municipal income tax; and <br />WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council have previously been requested <br />to consider the operiing of the Mt. Vernon Campus Park on a weekend <br />for the purpose of allowing the Park businesses to have "open houses" <br />for the public and to conduct retail sales in order to reduce inventories; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the Zoning Code of the municipality does not permit <br />retail sales in the Mt. Vernon CaTnpus. Park; and <br />WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council have determined that the opening <br />of the Mt. Vernon Campus Park on a weekerici for the purposes set forth <br />hereinabove will be an aid to those businesses wishing to participate <br />and would furthermore provide the residerits of the community an <br />opportunity to visit the Mt. Vernon Campus Fark, therefore qualifying <br />such a weekend for a temporary exemption from the Zoning Code; and <br />WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council have furthermore been advised that <br />those businesses that would conduct retail sales during such a weekend <br />event would contribute five percerit (5Q/o) of the"ir gross sales to the <br />Community Room Construction Project; and <br />LJHEREAS, having carefully considered a11 of the foregoing, the <br />Mayor and Council have determined that, subject to the guidelines <br />hereinafter set forth, August 27, 28,'anci. 29,- 1982 were designated <br />as "$eta Days". in the Mt, Vernon Campus Park; and <br />WHEREAS, the Mayor and Couneil now wish to ratify the'ir actions <br />in declaring "Be.ta Days" on the aforemeritioned dates; now, therefore,
