RESOLUTION N0. 83-17
INTRODUCED BY: Mayor Beebe & Council as a Whole
A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING "BETA
DAYS'° IN THE MT. VERNON ~ CAf~IPUS
PARK, ESTABLISHING TERMS AND CONDI-
TIONS THEREFOR AND DECLARING AN
EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, the Council of Mayfield Village previously enacted
Resolution No. 82-73, designating August 27, 28 and 29, of 1982 as
"Beta Days" in the Mt. Vernon Campus Park; and
WHEREAS, the basis for the decision of Council in
designating "Beta Days'° on the aforementioned dates is found in the
preamble to Resolution No. 82-73; and
WHEREAS, it was not the intention of Council in enacting
Resolution No. 82-73 to establish "Beta Days" as an annual or
regularly scheduled event; and
WHEREAS, it has come to the attention of the Mayor and
Council that the continuing economic recession is still having an
adverse impact upon many of the businesses located in the Mt. Vernon
Campus Park; and
WHEREAS, as previously recognized, the Mayor and Council
acknowledge that since the opening of the Mt. Vernon Campus Park the
businesses located therein have provided substantial revenue to the
municipality through the payment of the municipal income tax; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council have again been requested to
consider the opening of the Mt. Vernon Campus Park on a given weekend
for the purpose of allowing the Park businesses to have "open houses"
for the public and to conduct retail sales in order to reduce
inventory; and
WHEREAS, the Zoning Code of the municipality does not permit
retail sales in the Mt. Vernon Campus Park; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council have again determined that
the opening of the Mt. Vernon Campus Park on a weekend for the
purposes set forth hereinabove, will be an aid to those businesses
wishing to participate and would furthermore provide the residents of
the community an opportunity to visit the Mt. Vernon Campus Park,
therefore qualifying such a weekend for a temporary exemption from the
Zoning Code; and
