ORDINANC?E N0. 85-16 (AS AMENDED) <br />INTRODUCED BY: Mayor Carmen & Council as a Whole <br />?? - AN ORDINANCE ENACTING CHAPTER 1185 OF <br />THE CODIFIED ORDINANCES OF NlAYFIELD <br />V ILLAG E, OH IO, PERTAIN ING TO S IGNS, <br />REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES INCONSISTENT <br />TH EREW ITA . <br />WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council of Mayfield Village, Ohio, <br />have determined that it is in the best interests of the orderly <br />development of the municipality in all use districts to establish a <br />comprehensive ordinance pertaining to the erection of-signs; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the intent of the Council of Mayfield <br />Village, Ohio, by the enactment of this ordinance, to establish a <br />comprehensive ordinance pertaining to signs and to repeal all existing <br />ordinances pertaining to signs; now, theref ore, <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF MAYFIELD VILLAGE, OHIO THAT: <br />Section 1. There is hereby enacted Chapter 1185 of the <br />Codified Ordinances of Mayfield Village, Ohio, pertaining to signs: <br />CHAPTER 1185 <br />Signs <br />1185.01 Intent. <br />Sign regulations, including provisions to control the type, <br />design, size, location, illumination and maintenance thereof, are <br />established and shall be liberally construed in order to achieve, <br />among others, the following purposes: <br />(a) To promote attractive and maintain high value <br />residential districts; <br />(b) To provide reasonable, yet appropriate, conditions <br />for identifying and ac3vertising goods sold or services <br />rendered in business districts by relating the size, type <br />and design of signs to the type and size of establishment; <br />(c) To provide for reasonable signs for the identifica- <br />tion of industrial development; <br />(c3) To control the design of signs so that their <br />appearance will be aesthetically harmonious with their <br />surroundings and an overall urban design for the area; <br />(e) To eliminate any conflict between advertising <br />or identification signs and traffic control signs which <br />would be hazardous to the safety of the motoring public or <br />pedestrians.
