0 <br />ORDINANCE N0. 74- 31 <br />Introduced by: Mrs. Negrelli <br />AN ORDINANCE TO REGULATE THE OPERATION OF BICYCLES, TRICYCLES <br />AND UNICYCLES ON THE STREETS, PUBLIC HIGHWAYS, SIDEWALKS, OR <br />PUBLIC PATHS OF THE VILLAGE OF MAYFIELD, AND DECLARING AN <br />EMERGENCY <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF MAYFIELD, CUYAHOGA COUNTY, <br />OHIO, THAT: <br />Section 1. When Rules Apply: <br />The regulations applicable to bicycles set forth in this Ordinance shall <br />apply whenever a bicycle, adult tricycle or unicycle is operated upon a sidewalk, <br />street, highway, boulevard, public place or upon a public path set aside for the <br />exclusive use of bicycles, tricycles or unicycles. <br />Section 2. Bicycle Defined: <br />? The term bicycle means a two-wheeled vehicle having a rear drive wheel which <br />? is solely human powered. The term tricycle shall mean a three-wheeled adult vehicle <br />propelled by human power having a single front wheel and two parallel rear wheels. <br />The term unicycle means a one-wheeled vehicle which is solely human powered. <br />Section 3. Parents Responsibility: <br />The parent(s) of any child and the guardian of any ward shall not authorize <br />or knowingly permit any such child or ward to violate any of the provisions of this <br />Ordinance. <br />Section 4. License Required - Registration: <br />(a) No person who resides within the municipality, shall ride or propel <br />a bicycle, adult tricycle or unicycle upon any sidewalk, street, highway, boulevard, <br />public place or public path, set aside for the exclusive use of bicycles, adult <br />tricycles or unicycles unless such bicycle, tricycle or unicycle has been licensed by <br />the Police Department or other designated official for such purpose, and the license <br />is attached thereto on the frame of the bicycle, adult tricycle or unicycle for which <br />issued. <br />(b) This provision shall not apply to any bicycle, adult tricycle or <br />unicycle in transit within the corporate limits of the municipality, providing that <br />the owner is a resident of another community. <br />(c) Application for registration of a bicycle, adult tricycle or unicycle <br />Is shall be made by the owner, parent or guardian of a minor to the Police Department <br />upon an approved application form furnished by the Police Department.
