BORDONARO <br />AN ORDINANCE RE-CODIFYING THE VARIOUS ORDINANCES ESTABLISHING <br />AND CREATING A VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT FOR THE VILLAGE OF <br />HAYFIELD, ADDING THE POSITION OF FULL-TIME, DAYTIME FIREMAN, <br />AND REPEALING ORDINANCE N0. 476, AS AMENDED. <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF HAYFIELD, CUYAHOGA <br />COUNTY, OHIO, THAT: <br />Section 1. There is hereby established and created, pursuant to <br />lava, a Volunteer Fire Department for the Village of Mayfield, Ohio. <br />Section 2. The Village Fire Department shall consist of a Chief, <br />Assistant Chief, a Captain, two Lieutenants, and not more than 30 Firemen, <br />all of whom shall be appointed by the Piayor, subject to the approval and con- <br />firmation of a majority of the members elected to Council. One of such persons <br />shall be designated as a full-time, daytime Fireman. All members of the Fire <br />Department shall continue in office until they resign or are removed far the <br />causes and under the procedure provided by the applicable statutes of the <br />State of Ohio. <br />Section 3. The Fire Department is authorized to act and use the <br />fire apparatus of the Village in times of emergency to safeguard life, limb, <br />property and public safety and health. The Chief of the Fire Department shall <br />be paid at the rate of $1,800.00 per year for his services, and, in addition, <br />shall be paid the same amount as hereinafter specified for services rendered <br />in the Fire Station. The acting Fire Chief shall be paid the sum of $10.75 <br />for each fire or emergency call up to the first hour thereof, and $2.50 for <br />each additional hour in performing such services. Each other officer (other <br />than those above=named) shall be compensated at the rate of $5.40 for the <br />first hour spent in each fire or emergency call and $2.50 for each additional <br />hour in such service. Each volunteer Fireman who is not an officer, shall be <br />paid the sum of $2.15 per hour for each fire or emergency call. Afire call <br />or emergency call shall be deemed to begin when the fire equipment leaves its <br />regular station and to end when it has been returned thereto. The person <br />designated as a full-time, daytime Fireman shall~be employed for a period of <br />40 hours per. week during daytime hours, and shall be authorized to perform all <br />duties whio'h are to be performed by members of the Fire Department in answering <br />fire-or emergency calls and in performing duties within the Fire Station and <br />shall be compensated at the rate of $7,000.00 per year. The full-time, daytime <br />Fireman shall be paid at the same rate as volunteer Firemen for services per- <br />formed after hours or after the period of 40 hours per week. The Chief of the <br />Fire Department is also authorized to employ a Fireman whose duties shall be <br />to remain in the Fire Station and answer telephones, work upon and maintain the <br />fire equipment, and perform incidental duties within the confines of the Fire <br />Station; such person may be removed at any time at the pleasure of the Mayor <br />or the Chief of the Fire Department and shall be paid the sum of $2.15 for <br />each hour worked in the Fire Station and shall be employed for not more than <br /> <br />
