Mr.
Sloan said that there was nothing to report f rom the.Welf are Committee. Mr.
Bennett said that he had nothing to report fr-om the Building Comniittee; that
they were just cleaning up next door. .
Mr. Belzer, reporting for the Safety and Service Committee, said that
they had met on August 5, 1963; that::Mr. Russell of the School Board had
explained the new bus schedule and stated that State Aici for school buses had
been eurtailed and`they were obliged to cut wherever possible and asked about
sidewalks East on Wilson Mills,, on Robley Lane and North on SOM to Thornapple
Drive. Mr. Belzer said he was in favor of continuing the slag path as f ar
as Robley Lane and that the other people should pay just as those that now
have the path did. Mr. Belzer said that he would try the same method on
SONI and see wliat came of it. There was some discussion in Council upon the
matter, but again it was brought out that the cost of moving trees and_shrubs
in the path of a sidewalk would not warrant the cost at this time, inasmuch as
no one knew just when Wilson Mills would be widened. Chief Shortle reported
to the Coumittee that prints had beea sent to the C.E.L. f or approval of
installation of,new traff ic lights at SOM and Wilson Mills and the Committee
voted that Council should pass.an ordinance providing that all sidewalks be
kept clear.
1.
