MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF COUNCIL
Mayfield Village
June 15, 1998
The Council of Mayfield Village met in regular session on Monday, June 15, 1998, at 8:00 p.m. in the Mayfield
Village Senior Center/Community Room. Council President Mark Fixler presided.
ROLL CALL: Present: Mr. Buckholtz, Mr. Busa, Mrs. Cinco, Mr. Fixler,
Mr. Marquardt, Mrs. Mills and Dr. Parker
Absent: None
Also Present: Mayor Rinker, Mr. Brett, Mr. Cappello, Mr. Diemert,
Mr. Hovancsek (8:07 p.m.), Mr. Metzung, Chief Mohr,
Lt. Liggett and Ms. Heckler
The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was given.
OPEN PORTION
Mar~Peto, 927 Beech Hill and Laura Lynch, 934 Beech Hill, said they supported the proposed sidewalk/bike
path east on Wilson Mills between Beech Hill and Hanover, on the south side, for the safety of many people,
both young and old. They feel that as it stands, that stretch of road is dangerous to bicyclists and walkers alike.
They feel the south side of the road is very uneven and hard to navigate. They along with many of their
neighbors support the sidewalk and urge Council to do the same. They believe it would be an asset to Mayfield
Village.
Jim Philips, 856 Hardwood Court, said he echoed the comments of the first two ladies and supported the
sidewalk/bike path on Wilson Mills east to the Gates Mills line. He feels it is a safety issue and a current
problem. He would encourage Council to seriously consider putting the sidewalk in on that section of the road
and would get petitions signed if necessary.
Ed Hoeningman, 6820 Wilson Mills Road, said he lives right next to the bio filter and stated the grass needs to
be cut on a regular basis, there are dead trees and shrubs that need to be replaced and said there are odors
coming from that site. He said that prior to the grass being cut, both times he had to complain to the Mayor's
Office before anything was done.
Craig Neyman, 6858 Wilson Mills Road, said he and his family are very much in favor of the sidewalk. He has
witnessed many people, including children walking in the street and witnessed roller bladers on Wilson Mills,
and it is a hazard. His house is directly affected by the proposed sidewalk and due to safety issues, he supports
this issue and urges Council to do the same. He understands that if they have to move a fence or cut down some
branches or trees, that is a small sacrifice to afford the safety for the children and adults.
CONSIDERATION OF NIINUTES
