The Council of Mayfield Village met in regular session on Monday, July 19, 1999, at 8:40 p.m.
(following the Council Caucus meeting) in the Mayfield Village Senior Center/Community
Room. Council President Bill Marquardt presided.
ROLL CALL: Present: Mr. Buckholtz, Mr. Busa, Mrs. Cinco, Mr. Ilacqua,
Mr. Marquardt, Mr-s. Mills and Dr. Parker
Absent: None
Also Present: Mayor Rinker, Mr. Brett, Mr. Cappello, Lt. Dearden, Mr-. Diemert,
Mr. Hovancsek, Mr. Metzung, Lt. Porter, Mr. Samac, Mr. Thomas
and Mrs. Roman
The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was given.
OPEN PORTION
_ _ 1VIr John Michalko, 6852 Wilson Mills Road -said for 2-3 years there have been pending issues
regarding the biofilter. He has been told it would be maintained but many of the plants are dead
I ~ and 90% of the time there the weeds are waist high. He has called Village Hall and did not
`- ~ receive the response he wanted. Also, regarding the new sidewalk from Beech Hi11 to Hanover
Woods, we were told that area would be maintained. The asphalt work was shoddy and the
landscaping and seeding were not done properly. He would like to know where we stand. He
talked to Doug Metzung tonight and he told him some things he wasn't aware of--that the crew
went in there to do it and the County said they would do it. It is an ugly site now and he is tired
of looking at it.
Mayor Rinker apologizes on behalf of all of us that we haven't done a better job of keeping it up.
We have made numerous requests and have gotten some plants in; we have put some in
ourselves. He drove by again this weekend and agrees it is no where near what we should-be
doing. He also talked to Mr. Metzung; we will try to do a better job.
Dr. Parker said he walked it and agrees. If any homeowner would leave their yard like that, they
would be cited. That needs to be addressed. His understanding was that they would put in grass
and regrade that area.
Mr. Michalko said in the Spring when the County came in, all they did was cut down the weeds
with weedeaters.
Mayor Rinker said we ended up taking their contract because we didn't want to wait for
N.E.O.R.S.D. or the County. We will follow through.
