<br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAtZ MEETING OF COUNCIL <br />Village of Mayfield <br />May 17, 1982 <br />The Council of the Village of Mayfield met in Regular Session on Monday, <br />May 17, 1982 at 8:05 p.m. at the Village Hall. Couricil President, Michael <br />W. Spellman, presided. <br />Roll Call:. Present: Messrs., Carmen, Etzler, Spellman, Mrs. Bloom and <br />Mrs. Hanus <br />Absent : Messrs., Busa, Flynn <br /> <br />Also Present Wbre . Mayor Beebe, Messrs., Amendola, Feneli, Foltz, <br />Hovancsek,'Firefighter Porter, Chief Stevens, Mrs. <br />Ruggles and Mrs. MaynaYd <br />The Pledge of Allegiance to the F1ag was given. <br />OPEN PORTION <br />Mr. Walter Chapma.n (Village Representative for Group Insurance Policy benefits) <br />announced that there has been an increase in the cost of our present insurance <br />policy of approximately 26%. This means the Village will be subject to an <br />$18,000 to $20,000.00 increase for the same benefits th.ey have now, bringing <br />last years annual.premium of approximately $72,000.00 to approximately $90,000.00. <br />The Village has the choice of maintaining the same package, or decreasing the <br />benef it package, or allowing the employee to pay part of the premium. Mr. <br />Chapman asked that the Mayor and Council direct him as to what they would like <br />him to do. . <br />Council President Spellman said Council is aware of the.situation and asked <br />Council if they wished to make a decision tonight or have Mr. Chapman return <br />to the next Council Meeting. <br />Council agreed to have Mr. Chapman return to the next Council Meeting. <br />Mayor Beebe said he gave Mr. Chapman a copy of a Prudential notice (regarding <br />our sick benefits), that they, too, are increasing their premium. He asked <br />that Mr. Chapma.n investigate that also. <br />Mr. Chapma.n said he would like to know the concept of Councils thinking in <br />terms of what alternative they may choose, in view of the time involved to <br />research all areas. <br />Council President Spellman recommended Mr. Chapman investigate all of the <br />alternatives to defray the cost of the increase to the Village.
