Last year when a fire hydrant was flushed,
the water poured into his basement. He has made 30-40 phone calls and
numerous visits to the Village Hall, but to no avail. Mayor. Carmen, Mr.
Amendola, and Mr. Hovancsek have been to his home to look at the problem and
he has received promises that it would be taken care of, but it has not yet
been corrected.
Mr. Hovancsek pointed out the three.problems Mr. Boylan was having:
1) The ditch on the south side of the street is non-existant near
the intersection. He looked at this problem a year ago and agreed that
the ditch should be re-installed in the right-of-way of the village
roadway.
2) The ditch on the north side of the street is not.adeq.uate and
should be enlarged.
3) Mr. Boylan's house is built low to the ground and water that sheet
flwos in goes into his basement. Mr. Hovancsek suggested that Mr. Boylan do some swaling on the neighboring
property to guide the water to his back yard north'of his garage so that it
won't cause a direct problem to his home. '
Mr, Amendola said he is aware of the problems Mr. Boylan?.is:-:-expet.ienci.ng.
However, permission must be granted from Mr. Boylan's reighbor to put irL a
• ditch through his property to help.take care of the problem and it cannot be
done until dry weather.
Mr. Boylan feels if the swale was deeper at the street he might not have to
dig one beside his driveway.
A short discussion was held.
