MINUTES OF A SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING
? Mayf'ield Village
March 8, 2004
The Council of Mayfield Village met in Special Session on Monday, March 8, 2004
at 8:00 p.m. in the Mayfield Village Senior Center/Community Room. Council President Bill
Buckholtz presided.
ROLL CALL: Present: Mr. Buckholtz, Mrs. Cinco, Mr. Marquardt, Mr. Marrie,
Mrs. Mills, Dr. Parker and Mr. Saponaro
Absent: None
Also Present: Mayor Rinker, Mr. Brett, Ms. Calta, Mr. Cappello, Chief Dearden,
Mr. Metzung, Chief Mohr, Mr. Thomas and Mrs. Roman
u
First Reading of Ordinance 2002-14, entitled; "An emergency Ordinance authorizing and
directing the Mayor to enter into a contract with J&J Refuse for rubbish pick up and other
miscellaneous items for a period of 39 months." Introduced by Mayor Rinker and Council as a
Whole.
ROLL CALL: AYES: All
Mrs. Mills, seconded by Mr. Marquardt, made a motion to suspend the rules of Council requiring
an ordinance to be read on three sepaxate occasions.
Motion Carried
Rules Suspended
NAYS: None

Mrs. Mills, seconded by Mr. Marquardt, made a motion to enact Ordinance No. 2004- 14.
Council President Buckholtz asked if there was any discussion. Do we have further discussion on
the totes.
Mr. Metzung said as I explained in the letter, the Mayor thinks an ideal way to do this would be
to have a pilot program. We'd pick a couple of streets. We thought Patsy's neighborhood would
be a good choice since they have a very active homeowners association and feedback would be
very forthcoming. We'd purchase our own totes and we'd go with the Option "A" which is the
non-toter option of the contract. It makes no difference to J&J; all their equipment is equipped
with equipment to pick up toters or just throw it in the bins so when they purchase this new
equipment it is going to have that option so it doesn't matter to them. So that is my
recommendation in that regard. Mrs. Cinco said it was brought up in Safety and Service that if there is a problem with this
contract we can always get out of it.
