Those who wish to speak must first state their name and address.
Dr. Phillip Price, Superintendent of the Mayfield City SclTOOls to present Mayor Rinker and
Council with a Proclamation
Dr. Price said at the last meeting of the Board of Education, the School Board passed a Proclamation
recognizing Mayor Rinker, Council and Mayfield Village personnel for their outstanding work and
vision which has been recognized by the Cleveland Magazine when the publication named Mayfield
Village in June 2004 as the "Best Community" in Northeast Ohio. He read the proclamation (see
attached) and then presented it to Mayor Rinker. Dr. Price said a lot of times the Village comes to us
and gives us resolutions. We don't come to you enough. When we thought about it, the $100,000
that you provide the District every year and officer Annandono that you provide and Bill's programs
have added greatly. He gives exceptional service to us and also to the District. I can't tell you how
much it means to have a supportive Village that makes what we do that much better. It really
wouldn't happen in many other communities we'd be paying for things and not getting those kind of
benefits. Again, congratulations. It is really well deserved.
Everyone applauded and Mayor Rinker and members of Council expressed thanks.
Dr. Price distributed a paper with. Ohio Graduation Test results. He said they just came out. This is
the first year they have given it to sophomores. It is really difficult to pass. Of the 640 school
districts in Ohio, we are probably in the top 15. If you look at this in northeast Ohio, 96% passed the
reading and 94% passed the math section-as sophomores. And the only districts above us were
Chagrin Falls, Brecksville, Broadview Heights..... This doesn't happen without great parents and
great communities. It all comes together. You can't do this overnight. You should be proud; we are
proud.
COMMENTS FROM MAYOR RINKER -Presentation to Arztliony Casey
