ROLL CALL: <br />Chairman Burns called the meeting to order.at 8:10 p.m. <br />Present: M. Betts, R. Bierman, B. Gorris, T. Morgan, J. Thomas, E. Traczyk, <br />and J. Burns. <br />Also Present: Assistant Law Director J. Dubelko, City Engineer J. Schaller, <br />Acting Building Commissi:oner D. Sanker and Clerk of Commissions ' <br />B. Oring. <br />II. REVIEW'AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES: <br />M. Betts moved to approve the minutes of March 10, 1987 as presented, <br />seconded by B. Gorris, and unanimously approved. <br />III. BUILDING DEPARTMENT REQUESTS: <br />1) United Dairy Farmers, corner of Lorain and Columbia Roads. <br />Proposal to reverse position of building from plan previously approved <br />by Planning Commission October 28, 1986. <br />Proposal was withdrawn by the developer. <br />2) Ron`s North Olmsted Beverage Drive-thru and Video Store, 30700 Lorain Rd. <br />Proposal to change exterior material on south and east elevation to metal,. <br />brick was previously approved by Planning Commission June 24, 1986 and <br />Arcfiitectural Board of Review on June 18, 1986. Heard by Planning Commis- <br />sion March 10, 1987 and by Architectural Board of Review March 18, 1987. <br />Mr.. Hootman, contractor, explained that after reviewing the proposal with <br />the Architectural Board of Review, the owner had agreed to install the <br />brick on the east elevation, but is requesting to change the siding on <br />the rear to the T111, cedar siding, which had been approved for the <br />gable ends of the building. He stated.that the dumpster fence which is <br />also cedar would obscure the brick on the lower portion of.that wall and <br />eliminating this brick will reduee the cost by about,$4,800. It was <br />clarified that this is a plywood material which give the appearance of <br />cedar siding. Mr. Thomas belTeves tfiat the original plans should be <br />followed since he envisions all commercial buildings with rear walls <br />of a lesser quality than the rest of the b uilding. Mr. Morgan stated <br />that if the contractor had-presented the T111 originally.. the Commission <br />would probably have approved it. Mr. Burns agreed. The Architectural <br />Board had denied the request for the metal s-iding, hut had indicated <br />they would :be agreeable to the T11:1 on the rear wal1, but not on the <br />. east side. B. Gorris moved to approve the request to alter the rear <br />extezior of Ron's North Olmsted Beverage Drive-thru and Video Store, <br />30700 Lorain Road to permit the covering of-the rear.of:the building in <br />the T111 (Georgia Pacific fir plywood) which.: has the appearance of cedar
