.. A
". PLANNTNG COMISSION OCTOBER 27, 1987 PAGE 5
VIII. OLD BUSINESS;
Commission discussed how to proceed with the studyo uf several parcels of land
that have been suggested for possible rezoning. Members are in the process
of defining what goals they wish to accomplish with.this study. Mr. Morgan
commented that he does not wish to proceed with this without some direction
from the Council since the Commission is an advisory arm of the Council and
the final decision would be theirs. He has narticiDated in previous studies,
only tofind that there was a lack of interest by others in the City. Mr.
Thomas believes if such a study were initiated bv the Commission, it would
take the volitical aspect out of the discussion. Mr. Betts believes that
such a studv will help in the event that the Commission were asked to rezone
nroperty in the future and he would like a broad general zoning policY.
Mr. Gorris believes that there are some large parcels of land which possibly
are not zoned properly, but he would like some professional input from some
nlanning group, possibly Regional Planning Commission. Chairman Burns will
take this up when he meets with the Mayor next week. Assistant Law Director
Dubelko advised that the Commission did haue the authority, under the zoning
codes, to recommend amendments to.the zoning map to the Council and suggested
that perhaps the money allocated for a part time nlanner for.Council could be
used for a study by one of the planning groups. Each member will submit his
ideas for discussion at a later meeting.
IX. ADJOURNMENT:
J. Thomas moved to excuse the absence of E. Traczyk, seconded by T..Morgan,
and unanimously approved.
The meeting was adjourned at 10:25 p.m.

J. Burns, Chairman B. Oring, C1?'rk of Commissions
