Page two, Minutes of September Meeting N.O.L.C.
NEW BUSINESS ,
1) MEETINGS:
The N.O.L.C will hold its monthly meetings on the
second Monday of each month.
2) FRIENDS OF NORTH OLMSTED LANDMARKS COMMISSION:
The Commission discussed whether a" Friends" of the
N.O.L.C. should be established. Such a body would be created
primarily as a fund raising organization, it would have to
be separate from the City's Landmarks Commission, and would
have no connection with the City.
The reason for creating such an organization would be
to insure that there would be funds available to pay for some
of the expenses of the N.O.L.C. and to provide funds for specific
projects that would be initiated or endorsed by the N.O.L.C.
. Due to the fact that the Budget for the N.O:L.C. has been
reduced over the years a"Friends" organization could prove
to be very helpful to the N.O.L.C.
Examples of the type of expenses(or projects) that the
"Friends" might be able to help fund would be:
1) Historic Plaques;
2) Plaque date strips;
3) Renovation of Old Town Hall;
4) Photographs and slides;
5) Promotion of Community interest;
6) Research expenses &
7) Special projects.
The main purpose ( other than for providing funds) of
such a"Friends" organization would be to generally promote
and maintain interest in Historical Homes, Buildings and Cites
in the city of NOrth Olmsted and to help support the preservation
and the recognition of such homes, buildings and cites.
3) LIBRARY OPEN HOUSE:
The North Olmsted Branch of the Cuyahoga County Regional
Library System is planning an Open House on November 1, 1987.
The Open House will "Show Off" the remodeled library. It was
suggested by Bill Lackey that the N.O.L.C. should have a display
table that would provide information on the Historical Significance
of the North Olmsted Library and the Butternut Ridge Road Historic
District. The N.O.L.C. 's participation will be discussed
at the next meeting.
4) 1988 HOMECOMING BOOTH:
The Commission discussed plans for a 1988 Homecoming
Booth. Bill Lackey informed the Commission that if a"Friends"
organization was established, the "Friends" could join the
Community Council and set up a booth at a reduced rate. It
was suggested that a Committee be established to plan for such
a Homecoming Project.
Since there was no further business and upon proper motion
and vote, the Meeting was adjourned at 9;05 pm.
-2-
