CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ARCHITECTURAL BOARD OF REVIEW <br />MINUTES - SPECIAL MEETING <br />MARCH 4, 1987 <br />I. ROLL CALL: <br />Acting Chairman Pattison called the meeting to order at 5:15 p.m. <br />Present: J. Britton, D. Pattison, and B. Zergott <br />Absent: M. Case <br />Also Present: Acting Building Commissioner D. Sanker and Clerk of <br />Commissions B. Oring <br />II. REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES: <br />The review of the minutes was deferred until the next regularly scheduled <br />meeting. <br />III. SIGNS: <br />No items. <br />IV. OLD BUSINESS: <br />No items. <br />V. NEW BUSINESS: <br />1) Gareau Building, Lorain and David Drive <br />Proposal to construct retail/office building. <br />(Heard by Planning Commission February 24, 1987) <br />Mr. Schill, Mongello and Associates, and Mr. Garesu, the owner, presented <br />plans for the two story metal building with a pitched metal roof. Ex- <br />terior walls'will be a light beige dryvit with dark b ronze glass, mullions, <br />and trim, seven . store units will be on.tlie fiYSt floor with offices on <br />the second floor. Revised site nlan show the relocated handicapped <br />spaces as suggested by the Planning Commission; driveway closest to <br />Lorain Road on David Drive has been moved 70 feet away from Lorain Road <br />in order to conform to code; dumpster will be enclosed in a board on <br />board cedar fence; mechanical units will be through the wall so there <br />will be no roof top equipment; and wheel stops will be in front of the <br />retail units. Mr. Zergott suggested some changes in the planting <br />material: that the floral contoneaster be changed to devaricota which <br />does better in this climate; the andora juniper be changed to Youngstown <br />since it is a more improved variety; the winged burning bush should <br />be the compact variety; and the Japanese spurge should be changed to <br />euonymouse wintercreeper since it can withstand the sun and salt better. <br />Mr. Gareau pointed out that the chain link fence to the rear was owned
