Burk
Also Present: Acting Building Commissioner D. Sanker, Councilman R. Wilamosky,
and Clerk of Commissions B. Oring
II. REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES:
The minutes were read at the end of the meeting. .
III. NEW BUSINESS:
1) A. L. Williams Co., 23633 Lorain Road
Request permission to keep satellite dish earth station (already
installed) on roof of building. Violation of Ord. 83-145.
Chairman Kazak administered the oath to Mr. Reis and Mr. Mulder both of
the A,. L. Williams__ Company who presented pictures of the installation.
They explained that this is a 5 foot commercial communications satellite
from which they get information from their home office and was installed
in December. Since the rear area of the buildirig is a driveway there
is no other place to install the dish. The contractor who installed
the dish advised them that no permit was required. The structure Of the
r.oof had, been verified by an architect and the contractors also had
engineering data for roof top installations. Mr. Galloway is concerned
since the dish would be visible to some of the residents of the ap art-
ment behind this building. The apartment owner was notified, but not
the residents. Mr. Schulz
would like Mr. Reis to agree to screening the dish after the Board
has determined an appropriate type of screening. He would also like
information on a mesh type screening which has been mentioned previously.
Mr. Kazak stated that the dish looks no worse than the mechanical
equipment that is already on the roof. B. Schulz moved to approve
this variance with the stipulation that as soon as the Board comes up
with a mesh type screening and it is written int,ci the ordinance that
Mr. Reis will conform to that, seconded by R. Galloway, and unanimously
approved. Mr. Reis and Mr. Mulder agreed that they would screen the
dish if everyone in North Olmsted is required to do so and if the
cost would not be prohibitive. The Board does not believe that it
