J <br />[. ? .. ? <br />1 <br />BOARD OF ZONTNG APPEALS DECEMBER 2, 1987 FAGE 5 <br />request since Mr. Gross owns the vacant lot next door and could have located <br />the garage there, and is concerned that Mr. Gross will sell the vacant lot. <br />Mr. Grass stated that when he nurchased the property he was told that he <br />could nofi sell the lot separately since there was not enough frontage and <br />stated he has no intention of selling the lot. Mr. Gross stated that he <br />cannot attach the garage to the house because adequate footers are not under <br />the foundation, but he intends to construct it as if it were an attached <br />garage and will put up fire walls as required. Building Commissioner Conway <br />advised that the 5/8th inch dry wall that he plans to install would meet the <br />fire codes. B. Grace moved to apnrove the 14 foot variance for the distance <br />between the house and garage (at the closest point) and 15 foot variance for <br />distance between house and garage with the consideration that adequate fire <br />wal].s meet the building req_uirements of the Cityo uf North Olmsted, and that <br />a building nezmit be anplied for, seconded by J. Helon, and unanimously <br />approved. Mr. Gross advised that he had applied for a building nermit. <br />Variance granted.. <br />4. R. & M. Weekley, 5575 Columliia Road, (Heard at this voint) . <br />Request for variance (.1123.12), Req,uest 1 foot height variance f'o,r fence <br />(building permit issued for 5.foot fenee. - 1 foot extensiom ad'ded). <br />Violation of Ord,, 87-913,; Section 1135..02 (h)' 1. <br />Chairman Remmel ealled all interested narties before the Board. The oath, <br />was adminis.tered to Mr, and- Mrs, Ideeklev who exnlained tfiat tfiev had obta,ined <br />a permit for a 5 foot fence for a d'og run, but since their Huskies couTd <br />jump over the fenee, they added a 1 foot extension.wh.ich is angl'ed in -to <br />keen them in the zun; Since there are many children in the neighborhood, they <br />want to keen the dogs.contained.. Mr. Remmel noted that is is one of the best <br />arrangements that he has seen. C. Remmel moved to grant the variance.as <br />requested, a 1 foot height variance for a-fence at 5575 Columbia Road, <br />seconded bv B.. Grace, and unanimously approved. Variance.granted. <br />6. Mr. and Mrs. J. Wagner, 24261 Beecfi Lane <br />Request for variance (.1123.12). Request 8 foot variance for distance between <br />addition and detached garage. Violation of Ord. 87-93, Section 1135.05(c)-1. <br />Chairman Remmel called all interested parties before the Boarcl. The oath was <br />administered to Mr. and Mrs. [Jagner. Mr. Bugala questioned if they could get <br />a second car in the garage. Mrs. Wagner.stated that they do not put a car <br />' in that side of the garage, however,others on the street have similar additions <br />and they nark two cars in their garages. Chairman Remmel agreed that there <br />were other additions like this on the street. J. Helon moved to grant the 8 <br />foot variance for the distance between the addition and the detached garage <br />subject to approval of the Building Department for a 5/8th thick fire wall in <br />the garage. Mr. Wagner pointed out that the garage was brick., Building <br />Commissioner Conwav advised that the roof would have to be treated. Motion <br />was seconded bv C. Remmel. Roll ca11 on motion: Helon, Remmel, and Grace, <br />yes. Mr. Bugala, no. Motion passed. Variance granted. Regarding the minutes of November llth, Chairman Remmel stated that the <br />Board mustbe careful of statements made about the policy of the administration. <br />Mr. Grace stated that he believed that the policy of eliminating nole signs was <br />a policv.of the Mayor and some members of the Council. Law Director Gareau <br />stated that this was not the policy-of the Mayor. .
