NEW DEVELOPMENTS AND SUBDIVISIONS:
1) Discussion of the proposed Cook Road water line - Mayor Petrigac
Mayor Petrigac explained that since there have been water pressure problems
in the west end of the city for the past 10 years, her administration at-
.tempted unsuccessfully to obtain a Communi.ty Block Grant in 1986 to try
to solve the problem. At that time plans were being implemented by the
Cleveland Water.Department to bring lines from the Crown Filtration Plant
through Westlake and into North Olmsted to service the water tower which
at present is not working at capacity. Originally those lines were to go
through Dover Center Road, however since Dover Center had just recently.been
repaved the Water Department agreed to.bring them down Porter Road which needs
repaving and_across Mill Road to the tower. The line to the tower will
improve the pressure on the west side of town, but would not alleviate all
the problems in the city. In 1987 a package was put.together wherein
Sunrise Development Company (developers of the Industrial Park), Shorewest
Construction (developers in Olmsted Township) agreed to pay for a portion of
the lines,,the Cleveland Water Department agreed to pick up the engineering
costs and_ the City of North Olmsted, and Olmsted Township both applied for
Community- Slock grants for.the installation of the.Cook. Road Water Line.
The Block grant was approved and made a.top priority with the county. This
water line will be installed without using city funds or tax money. Mayor
Petrigac.stated that they have been assured by the Water Department that
with the installation of the two lines the water pressure problems at the
west end of town will be solved and there will be adequate pressure for the
? proposed construction of the Industrial Park and constxuction in Olmsted
Township. Previously Christ The King Community had constructed water lines
, under I-480 which will tie in. The.agreement with Suririse Development was
that the city_would proceed with.the Industrial Park Roadway. The.entire
Cook.Road line must be completed by December 31, 1989 under terms of the
.. . grant; the roadway and improvements must be started this year, but.Sunrise
