PLANNING COMMISSION
JUNE 28, 1988
?
?.
. -,
PAGE 2 ?
cautioned the developer that no light could glow through the awnings.
In reference to the comments of the Architectural Board of Review,
Mr. Carlisle explained that they will install a solid steel gate and fence
to screen the dumpster area.- The forester's report requested that the
existing landscaping be maintained or removed to another location. Mr.
Carlisle advised that the current landscaping at the front would be
maintained and supplemented with additional evergreens. In summarizing
Mr. Morgan again expressed concern regarding the traffic, but agreed
with Mr.Boyer's opinion that most of the accidents in the area are north-
bound traffic t.urning west, he does not believe that the traffic from
the hotel will a great impact.on this situation. He advised the devel-
oper that probably no future building would be permitted without an
additional drive onto Great North.ern Boulevard. Mr. Carlisle agreed
stating that another access would probably be installed on either Great
Northern or Brookpark Road. Mr. Morgan requested that a copy of the
Traff-Pro report be submitted to the Commission as soon as it is available,
but it was agreed to forward this proposal to the BZD Committee along with
Captain Krynak's report and Mr. Boyer.'s memo. T. Morgan moved to forward
the Honors Hotel proposal to the BZD Committee along with the traffic
report.from Captain Krynak,-dated June 8, 1988, and the recommendations
-of the City Engineer regarding thesignalization, dated 6/14/88, the cost
of which the developer has agreed to bear, and with the notation that
there is concern as to the traffic in the area, but the Commission does
not believe that the hotel proposal would add significantly to these
problems, but would not approve another building in the Corporate Center
without an additional access being included and also to approve the pro-
posal including the recommendations of the Architectural Board of Review,
seconded by -T-_-41&rgatr;-and unanimously approved.
J. Thomas,
3) T.G.I. Friday's, 5200 Great Northern Mall
Proposal to construct greenhouse addition on existing patio area..
Heard by the Architectural Board of Review June 22, 1988.
Building Commissioner Conway presented revised plans and pointed out that
the buttress wa1T was shown as 24 inches, not 30 as recommended by the
Architectural Board of Review. Mr. Betts questioned if the glass would
be safety glazed and.also pointed out that plans still show that canopy
will be back lighted. Mr.*McDonough, architect, advised that they will
use safety glazed tempered glass; that canopy will not;be back lighted,
and will be the same as is existing; and that the.sidewalk would be 6 feet
2 inches after enclosure is constructed. Mr. Bierman questioned the
construction hours noted on the plans as 2:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. and
pointed out this would.be contrary to the noise ordinance. Building
Commissioner Conway stated that if there were complaints, and the sound
was in excess of the decible limitations, ttiey would have to desist con-
struction during those hours as prescribed by the ordinance. Mr. McDonough
agreed to reschedule the work::according to the ordinance. R. Bierman
moved to approve the greenhouse addition to T.G.I.
