Thomas moved to table this pro- <br />posal for the consideration for a variance for the Aetna Door Company <br />until the next meeting of the Planning Commission with the request that <br />the plans that were approved last year for the Aetna Door Company be <br />provided at that time, seconded by R. Bierman, and unanimously approved. <br />3) Rad Air Service Center, 24260 Lorain Road <br />Addition of landscape buffer. <br />S. Kresge, representing Rad Air, presented pictures of the facility and <br />explained that they would be installing a brick planter along Lorain <br />Road in front of the parking lot, constructing a fence with landscaping <br />on the west side of the property, and putting in new aprons. Mr. Morgan <br />suggested that more details on the planter and planting ma.terial should <br />be presented to the Architectural Board. Mr. Kresge stated that the <br />pl:anter will match the existing planter in front of the building. M. Betts. <br />moved that the Rad Air Service Center at 24260 Lorain Road be submitted <br />to the Architectural Board of Review, seconded by R. Bowen, and unanimously <br />approved. <br />4) Third Federal Savings and Loan Association, 26949 Lorain Road <br />Proposal to construct addition to front of existing building. <br />Mr. Davison, architect, presented plans explaining that the 886 square <br />foot addition would be constructed inside the curve of the existing <br />building thus maintaining the existing 35 foot front set back and will <br />match the building; 5 new parking spaces including 2 handicapped spaces <br />will be added for a total of 39 spaces (30 spaces are required); another <br />teller window will be added at the rear; additional landscaping will be <br />placed in front of the addition; and signage and lighting will remain as <br />is. Mr. Thomas questioned if they would be keeping the unattractive <br />gravel roof and suggested this might be the time to upgrade it and also <br />pointed out that for a while the building had not been very well main- <br />tained. Mr. Davison will advise the owners of his comments. City <br />Engineer Boyer stated that the plans will be reviewed to determine if <br />any additional retention would be required. M. Betts moved to refer the <br />Third Federal Savings and Loan Association proposal to construct an addi- <br />tion at 26949 Lorain Road to the Architectural Board of Review as submitted <br />for their comment and to the City Engineer and the Safety Department for <br />their comments, seconded by E. Traczyk, and unanimously approved. <br />5) Owen E. McCafferty, C.P.A. Inc., vacant property west of 30940 Lorain Road <br />Proposal to construct office building. <br />Mr. Davison, architect, and Mr. McCafferty, owner, presented plans for <br />the 5,140 square foot, one story brick building which will be placed on <br />the south east corner of the property; the rear and west side of the <br />property will remain natural. Taenty-four parking spaces are required <br />and are being provided including one handicapped space and four spaces <br />which are to be enclosed with a board on board fence; a dumpster will be <br />enclosed with the same type fence; two access drives are planned; and <br />lights will be on 12 foot poles and building lights will be recessed <br />in overhang. In response to the Commission's questions, Mr. McCafferty <br />advised that they would only need between 10 and 15 parking spaces for <br />the.ix business at present since they only have 9 employees, but they <br />anticipate that eventually there will be 25 employees.
