?. i CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED BOARD OF ZONING APPEALS MINUTES - MAY 5, 1988 Chairman Remmel called the meeting to order at 7:40 p.m. Present: R. Bugala, J. Helon, and C. Remmel Absent: R. Gomersall and B. Grace Also Present: Law Director Gareau, Building Commissioner Conway, and Clerk of Commi.ssions . Oring. , Mr. Bugala moved to accept the minutes of the April 6, 1988 meeting as writteii, seconded by J. Helon, and unanimously anproved. Chairman Remmel advised the applicants that since there are only three members present, and it takes three affirmative votes to approve a.request, anyone who wishes to continue their request until the next meeting may do. so. Great NorthernBlvd. Request for variance (1123.12). ..Request variance to install.ground sign in a residential district. Violation of Or.d. 87-93,_Section 1163:05. Also request 2 squa.re £oot variance for-nameplate.. Violation-of Ord. 87-93, Section 1163.05(a). Chairman Remmel called all inte.rested-parties befDre the Board. The oath was administered to Miss Wilk and Miss Gold from New.Source Counseling Center, Mr. Clark and Mrs. Younger,who represented North Olmsted Evangelical Friends Church. A letter had been.received from the Pastor.of the church who stated that he could not attend the meeting but that the church was sunn'orting the center. Ms. Wilk stated that all of.their centers'located in churches had signs and in this case their clients would-be using-a door,in the rear of the church and the signs (1; feet by 2 feet)-would direct.- them to that door. Ms Gold, who will be the counselor,, explained that most of thei:r referrals are .from area nastors, that they clo me.inly family counseling for both adoles- ents and adults; but she is not trained to counsel iu substance abuse, and any case of that kind-would be referred to a specialist. Chairman Remmel noted that there were no neighbors present this evening. Board has no further problems with the request. R. Bugala moved to grant the variance to install a ground sign in a residential-district aiid also a 2-square foot variance for the nameplate forthe New Source Counseling Center (North Olmsted Evangelical Friends Church.), 5665 Great Northern Boulevard, seconded by C. Remmel, and unanimously approved. Variance granted. Mattress King, 24765 Lorain Road Request for variance (1123.12). Request 34 sq. ft. variance for total sign area for wall sign. Violation of Ord. 87-93, Section 1163.06(d). Chairman P.emmel called all interested parties before the Board. The applicant requested that the item be continued until the next meeting when a full Board would be present. The continuance was granted.
