Mr. Carlisle then explained that the code required three 12 by
50 foot loading docks, they are proposing to provide three 12 by 40 foot
docks. He presented a letter from the operator of the Honors Hotel in
Beachwood stating that deliveries are not made by tractor trailers but by
smaller delivery trucks. Mr. Carlisle explained that a tractor trailer
could park in these zones diagonally, if there ever were a delivery bSra
semi. J. Helon moved to approve the request by the Honors Hotel for a
variance for undersized loading facilities, seconded by C. Remmel, and
unanimously approved. Variance granted. Mr. Carlisle advised they are
proposing a total of five signs on the property, and are asking for a vari-
ance for 119 square feet for total sign area which includes the sign to be
located off the property. The building sign on the west elevation would
require a variance of 36.4 square feet. The off site sign, to be located
across Country Club Boulevard on their parcel B, is 16 feet high and is
basically designed to be seen only from I-480. He pointed out that prior to
the construction of Country Club Boulevard this was all one parcel and they
will eventually be developing this parcel. He further advised that they
had no intention of putting numerous signs along the interstate, and any
other hotels that they might develop would be adjacent to I-480. He ex-
plained that because this is a vacant parcel, the code only allows a one
square foot sign. R. Gomersall moved to grant the request for the 36.4
square fobt variance for a wall sign on a secondary street; a 119 square foot
variance for total sign area of all signs on the property; a variance for a
ground sign to be located off the hotel site; and a 95 square foot variance
for sign area for the off site ground sign for the Honors Hotel as requested
at the Board of Zoning Appeals meeting on June 8, 1988, seconded by R. Bugala,
and unanimously approved. Variances granted.
4. Alex C. Abonyi, 5330 Evergreen Drive .
Request for variance (1123.12).
