<br />Conway explained that they would now be asking fo.r an 8 square foot variance
<br />for a ground sign and a variance for total sign area which his department has
<br />not had an opportunity to figure. C. Remmel moved to grant a variance req_uest
<br />for Lloyd Barker Big "Q".Jeep for the replacement of the present AMC Jeen sign
<br />on the ground sign as presently erected and this variance shall grant the 8
<br />sq.uare feet to what they now have to be added to the present total sign area
<br />that is existing, and conditioned•on the ground sign limit of 10 feet in
<br />height, seconded by R.-Bugala, and unanimously approved. Amended variance
<br />granted.

<br />Request for vari;ance (.1123.12). Request variance for temporary leasing signs
<br />over 4 square feet and variance to.have 2 signs on property. Violation of
<br />Ord. 87093, Section 1163:05-c-1. (Please note: signs to be located on vacant
<br />property on south side of-Country Club Blvd. across from the Corporate Center
<br />and adjacent to I-480.)
<br />Chairman Remmel called-all interested narties before the Board. Councilman -
<br />McKay, Mr: Sherlock, Ostendorf '-Morris' -Compaiiy; and R. ,--Garlisle, Biskind
<br />Development Company2`stepped forward. Mr. Remmel stated that a variance had been
<br />granted for these temnorary signs some time ago. Mr. Grace suggested that a
<br />time limit should be stipulated. Chairman Remmel administered the oath at
<br />this'time. B. Grace moved to approve-the request for a variance for the
<br />temnorary leasing signs o.ver 4.square feet, and a variance to have 2 signs on
<br />the propertv, Ii'mitirig the erection- of the signs for.no longer than 12 months
<br />or 1 year from this date and conditioned upon keeping:the signs at the present
<br />location for the Great Northern Corporate Center, 25000 Country Club Blvd,
<br />seconded by R. Bugala, and unanimously approved. Variances granted.

<br />Chairman Remmel called 'all interested narties before the Board. The oath was
<br />administered to Mr. Herbster,'Mr. &.Mrs. Bedy,C. Merlirii, C. Holly, M.Davis,
<br />Mr. & Mrs. Tobias,.Mr. & Mrs. Lang, Mr. & Mrs. Ratvavasky, G. Durmour, Mr. &.Mrs.
<br />Coriroy, Mr. &Mrs. Conlan, and Mr. Frick, adjacent neighbors who indicated they
<br />were all opposed to the request; M. Brooks, Hampton Inn, R. Carlisle, Biskind
<br />Development Company,.and D. McKay and R. Wilamosky, Councilmen. Mr. Carlisle
<br />explained the 3 variances requested: sq:uare foot of the face of the sign,
<br />height of the sign, and total? square footage allowed for the building. They
<br />do not need a variance regarding the location of the sign. He believes that
<br />their appeal meets . the :three conditions; -that •th'.e Zoning Ordinance 'states must
<br />exist for an appeal and read'these conditions as.stated in Section 1123.12.
<br />He explained that: l) there,is'a'relationship in retail developments between
<br />visibility and success, 2) there is a relationship between the hotel and I-480,
<br />and 3) the hotel needs visibility from both the east and west. He pointed out
<br />that the Zoning Ordinances were written for flat sites, this property is 14
<br />feet lower than the adjacent Kennedy Ridge Road and with the tree line is
<br />anproximately 63 feet above their property; and if the land were flat and
<br />there was nothing between the hotel and I-480, a conforming pole sign would be
