<br />} <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />PLANNING COMMISSION <br />MINUTES - MAY 23, 1989 <br />I. ROLL CALL: <br />Chairman Thomas called the meeting.to order at 8:05 p.m. <br />Presen't: M. Betts, R. Bierman, R. Bowen, B. Gorris, T. Morgan, E. Traczyk,. <br />and J. Thomas <br />Also Present: Assistant Law Director Dubelko, Building Commissioner Conway, <br />Consulting City Erigineer Cesen, and Clerk of Commissions Oring. <br />II. REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES: <br />Chairman Thomas corrected the minutes of P-tay 9th, Page 4, item 2, the roll <br />call on the motion should read "....and Traczyk; No...." E. Traczyk moved <br />to approve the minutes of May 9, 1989 as corrected, seconded by R. Bierman, <br />and unanimously approved. <br />III. BUILDING DEPARTMENT REQUESTS: <br />Chairman Thomas advised that the order of the'agenda would be changed. <br />4) Columbia Terrace 24otor Inn, 24399 Lorain`Road <br />Exterior renovation to building. <br />Heard by the Architectural Board of Review May 17, 1989. <br />Mr. Thomas pointed out that the Architectural Board of Review had made <br />no major changes to the plan. Mr. Tonich, designer,.advised that the <br />only request was the additi,on of some landscaping to the front of the <br />motel which has now been included in the drawings. He further advised <br />that the existing pole sign would be altered to a standard Day's Inn <br />sign. R. Bierman >moved to approve the revised plans of 5/18/89 for <br />Columbia Terrace Motor Inn, 24399 Lorain Road including the Architec- <br />tural Board of Review's recommendations, seconded by R. Bowen, and <br />unanimously approved. <br />3) Bud Kaczor Insurance, 30005 Lorain Road <br />Proposal to convert existing dwelling to an office building. <br />Heard by the Architectural Board of Review May 17, 1989. <br />The Architectural Board had only suggested minor landscape changes <br />which.Mr. Kaczor.stated that he fiad no problem with and the only stipu- <br />lation had been that no lights shine onto adjacent properties. Mr. Kaczor <br />advised that the revised plans now show the removal of the trash enclosure <br />as suggested by the Planning Commission. The Police Department report <br />stated that they had no objection to the parking or the driveway, but <br />the building would be difficult for them to patrol, the east side already <br />has downspouts running onto the next property and the west side will be <br />difficult to see or check. Mr. Kaczor'advised that they will be putting <br />in glass.block windows and tHat he will probably install a burglar alarm <br />system. Mr. Kaczor does not want to landbank parking spaces, since he <br />does not know who will be in the building, and advised that he is adding <br />some landscaping. In reference to.the downspouts, Mr. Kaczor advised <br />that they will be installing all new downspouts and drains and will be <br />replacing the one that is broken. R. Bowen moved to approve the plans for <br />Bud Kaczor Insurance, 30050 Lorain Road, as submitted on May 17, 1989, <br />seconded by R. Bierman, and unanimously approved.
