Bierman, R. Bowen, B. Gorris, T. P4organ, E. Traczyk, and
J. Thomas.
Also Present: Assistant Law Director Dubelko, Building Commissioner Conway,
Consulting City Engineer Cesen, and Clerk of Commissions Oring.
II. BUILDING DEPARTMENT REQUESTS:
1) Ames Department Store (formerly Zayre's), 25999 Lorain Road
Proposal for exterior alteration to store front
Heard by Architectural Board of Review July 19, 1989.
Chairman Thomas pointed out that the Architectural Board had only suggested
that the facia above the window be painted white. He advised PZr. Taimuty,
the architect, that the Zayre's pole sign would have to be removed. Building
Commissioner Conway clarif ied that wheneyer they attempt to install the
Ames signs, all Zayre's signs would have to come down. Mr. Tamiuty explained
that even though Zayres is no longer in existence, they still own T. J..Maxx
and their sign is on the same pole. Mr. Conway responded that if they put
an Ames sign on the building, he would order any signage with the Zayre`s
name on it removed. Chairman Thomas advised that the only way they could
get any sign on a pole would be to apply to the Board of Zoning Appeals and
attempt to receive a variance, Mr. Bierman questioned if they would be
making any other improvements to the building or the property. Mr. Taimuty
stated that they were only adding the.canopy and the signs and painting the
facia, nothing else. M. Betts moved to approve the proposal for Ames
Department Store (formerly Zayre's), 25999 Lorain Road, as..submitted and
incorporating the recommendations of the Architectural Board of Review,
seconded by R. Bowen. Roll call on motion: Betts, Bowen, Gorris, Piorgan,
Traczyk, and Thomas, yes. Mr. Bierman, no. Motion carried.
2) Great Northern Dodge, 26100 Lorain Road
Proposal to construct addition to body shop.
Heazd by Architectural Board of Review July 19, 1989.
Chairman Thomas pointed out that the Architectural Board stated that they
could not make any recommendations since this was merely an addition to the
existing, metal body shop. J. Thomas moved to approve the proposal to con-
struct an addition to the body shop at Great Northern Dodge, 26100 Lorain
Road, seconded by M. Betts, and.unanimously approved.
