ARCHITECTURAL BOARD OF REVIEW MAY 173- 1989 PAGE 2
vapor pressurized sodium) on the east and west side of the station; sur-
face mounted mercury vapor lights on the control house; and twenty-six,
75 watt incadescent flood lights inside the enclosure. Mr. Loui.e explained
that with the exception of the pedestrian gate pole light luminair and
the luminair on the control house wa119 the sr.ation will not be otherwise
lighted except approximately once a week when an operator comes in.
B. Zergott moved to accept the C.E.I. Substation as presented with the
stipulation that someone call in with a paint number.,before the next
Planning Commission meeting and that the numbers, sizes, and varieties of
plants be listed on the plans as discussed, seconded by T. Gallagher, and
unanimously approvede Mr. Zergott noted and signed the landscaped plan..
2) Bud Kaczor Insurance, 30005 Lorain Road
Proposal to convert existing home to an office building.
Referred by Planning Commission May 9, 1989,
Mr. Kaczor explained that the trash enclosure has been removed as requested
by the Planning Commission in order to add more landscaping and presented
photographs of the existing house and surrounding properties. He explained
that the garage will be converted into a one room office by adding an en-
trance, new bricks to match the existing bricks, and thermal windows with
brown frames; his office will be in the center of the building and will
have few changes on the outside; and a new porch with wrought iron railings
and a roof will be added as an entrance to the off ice on the right side.
He clarified that all the windows in the house will be replaced with
thermal windows, that new glass block will replace the old (the glass
block in the basement has already been replaced); and that all downspouts,
gutters and window frames will be brown. At present they are planning to
keep the existing black roof and use matching shingles over the porch,
however, if it is determined later that the roof needs to be replaced he
would use a light brown. Mr. Gallagher suggested that he use a vinyl clad
(either wood or aluminium) window frame because there is.little maintenance
required. In reference to the landscape plan, Mr. Zergott suggested
changing the silver maple to a red maple, replacing the forsythia with a
taxus hixi, rododendrum, or blue holly and suggested adding two Bradford
pear trees on either side of the entrance in the planting beds and advised
that there was no problem with the white pine, andorra juniper or burning
bush as proposed. Two 10 foot high pole lights are proposed in the front
parking lot and Mr. Gallagher advised that the light must be directed
down so that no light spills over onto the adjacent propertyo He noted
this on the plans. There is one residential type light on the rear of
the house at present and no other lights are planned in the back. There
will be a ground sign with the standard State Farm logo and with additional
space for the two tenants. B. Zergott moved to accept the plans as sub-
mitted with the specifications for lighting as mentioned by Mr. Gallagher,
and the recommendations that were made for the landscape plan, seconded
by T. Gallagher, and unanimously approved. Mr. Zergott marked one plan
with the landscape revisionse
3) Columbia Terrace Motor Inn, 24399 Lorain Road
Exterior renovation to building.
Referred by Planning Commission May 9, 1989.
