ARCHITECTURAL BOARD OF REVIEW JUNE 21, 1989 PAGE 2
that the red band was not illuminated, the pole lights would be:no higher
than the building, but there would be some ground lighting. Mr. Sohn is
concerned about the color because the red is strong and that on a rainy
day the gray would be obscured and onLy the red would stand out, and
suggested a lighter color gray. Mr. Cody stated that they could go to
another supplier, but offered to send a picture of an existing b.uilding
to.both Mr. Sohn and the Building Commissionere PZr. Sohn can make his
recommendations to Mr. Conway. Mr, Cody explained that they will be
installing a small pole sign which will require a variance. B. Zergott
moved to'.accept the proposal as presented with the condition that they
accept the suggestions on the landscaping which will be received by
Friday by both myself and the forester and that a photograph of the
existing building be sent to Mr. Sohn for approval, seconded by T.
Gallagher, and unanimously approved. It was clarified that Mr. Cody
will send photographs to both the Building Commissioner and Mr. Sohn
who will call with his comments.
2) Pizzeria Uno's, 4900 Great Northern Mall
Exterior renovation to mall (formerly York's Choices).
Referred by Planning Commission on June 13, 1989.
Mre Johnson, architect, and Mr. Rogawlski, owner, explained that there
will be a wood frame addition to the mall projecting out about 12 feet
6 inches; wood siding will be light cream yellow; a forest green beading
(Benjamine Moore paint, no number was given) wi11 be around the bla•ck.
plexiglass sign with gold letters; black and white Boston tile (Sharon)
will be under the windows; exterior door will be rust and awnings will'be
a forest green and white stripe. The indirect lighting in the.parapet
will illuminate the sign. Mr. Sohn is concerned since the 3 foot 6 inch
awning wi11 project over a 4 foot 6 inch sidewalk and water would splash
down from the awninge Mr. Johnson stated they do no anticipate any pedis-
trian traffic on that sidewalk since most of the traffic would be from
the parking lot, B. Zergott moved to accept the plans as presented with
the condition that color numbers of the sidirig color and the beading be
presented (the yellow and green), seconded by T. Gallagher, and unani-
mously approved,
3) Carter Plaza North, 24910-24940 Lorain Road
Proposal to construct retail plaza (existing building to be demolished).
Referred by Planning Commission on June 13, 1989e
Mr, Acciarri, architect, presented colored rendering and explained that
the building will be split face block (12 inch by 4 inch by 16 inch) with
dark bronze window and door frames; shingles would be E1k, Prestique
Barkwood; sign band will be dryvit like stucco (Senergy #860). He
further explained that the eastern most drive has been moved about 20
feet and that they are now planning to run their storm water out to
Lorain Road and that some of it will have to be pumped out. Mr. Gallagher
was concerned that if tfie.ptunp isinstalled where it was visible it would
have to be concealed, or if it were surface mounted it would have to be
level with the asphalt. Mr. Acciarri advised that the roof top mechanicals
would be concealed behind the canopy.and there will be metal hallite lights
under the canopy and also wall packs. No handicapped parking spaces are
shown, and Mr. Conway will advise how many will be required. Mrs,Case
