ROLL CALL: <br />Chairman Thomas called the meeting to order at 8:05 P.M. <br />Present: M. Betts, R. Bierman, R. Bowen, B. Gorris, L. Orlowski, <br />and J. Thomas. <br />Also Present: Assistant Law Director Dubelko, Building Commissioner <br />Conway, City Engineer Deichmann, Assistant City <br />Engineer McDermott, and Clerk of Commissions Oring. <br />II. REVIEnT AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES: <br />M. Betts moved to approve the minutes of June 26, 1990 as submitted, <br />seconded by R. Bierman, and unanimously approved. <br />III. BUILDING DEPARTMIINT REQUESTS: <br />1) Reserve Electrical Construction, 30692 Lorain Road. <br />Proposal to construct storage building for existing office <br />building. . E <br /> <br />r] <br />Mr. R. Burk, president of Reserve Electrical Construction, <br />presented plans explaining that they are moving their office to <br />this location which has 2 separate parcels of property, and are. <br />proposing to construct a storage building on the same parcel that is <br />the site of the existing office building. The company has 6 employees <br />and there_will be no other tenants. Assistant City Engineer McDermott <br />stated that the parcel is zoned entirely general retail. Building <br />Conunissioner Conway advised that the driveway did conform to code. <br />Mr. Burk explained that the two story building will be constructed <br />with pre-fab trusses, exterior siding is T- 111 stained gray. It was <br />clarified that the 64 by .24 foot building will be 20 feet tall, with <br />an asphalt shingled roof. There will be exterior lighting at the <br />loading dock,- but no lighting is planned in -the rear adjacent to <br />residential' property. Mr. Burk explained that the property drops down <br />about 20 feet from Lorain Road. Mr. Thomas observed that the building <br />would be barely visible from Lorain Road. Mr. Bierman pointed out that <br />the plans show that a roof sign is to be installed on the office. Mr. <br />Conway advised that a variance would be required for a roof sign. <br />Assistant Law Director Dubelko advised that since the separate pa.rcel <br />is under a common ownership with the adjacent parcel and no building <br />is plarined on it, that an assembly would not be required. Mr. Gorris <br />suggested that additional landscaping be included. It was determined <br />that all of the parking spaces an the.property were not needed, so Mr. <br />Burk agreed to remove the first two spaces where the existing sign is <br />located to include additional green area. This landscaping plan must <br />be submi.tted to the Architectural Review Board. The plans were <br />1
