explained to Mra Cuebas who lives to the east of this property. <br />He was advised that the building was to be on the west side of '- <br />the property and that none of the trees on the property line <br />would be disturbed, only trimmeda Mr. Burk explained that they <br />only planned to remove one tree which was partially dead. It was <br />clarified that the tree on the drawing was merely part of the ; <br />artist's rendering, it is not part of the plan. Mr. Burk <br />explained to Mr. Wiersma, who owns property on Barton, that there <br />are no plans for the separate lot which abuts his property.• M. <br />Betts moved that the proposal for the Reserve Electrical <br />Construction Company at 20692 Lorain Road be forwarded to the <br />Architectural Board of Review with the following comments: that <br />the two parking spaces adjacent to Lorain Road be removed from <br />the proposal and that additional landscaping be provided for in <br />those spaces, and that the developer provide additional <br />landscaping plans to the Architectural Board of Review. Also to <br />refer this plan to the forester, Safety, and Engineering. <br />Further it is suggested that the dLUnpster be screened and that <br />they consider moving the roof sign to the new landscaping area, <br />seconded by B. Gorris, and unanimously approveda Roll call on <br />motion: Betts, Gorris; Bowen, and Thomas, yes. Mr. Bierman and <br />Mr. Orlowski, no. Motion carried. <br />2) Brendan Lane Shopping Center, 26309-23657 Lorain Road. <br />Proposal to construct new building on existing shopping center <br />site. Heard by Planning Commission January 23, 1990. Variance N.? <br />granted by Board of Zoning Appeals May 2, 1990. <br />Mr. Thomas advised that this proposal has been withdrawn by the ? <br />developer. .. <br />3) Great Northern Shopping Center, Plaza North <br />Proposal to construct new storefront for space #6 (Holcomb's) and <br />to implement a standardized storefront criteria. <br />Mr. Papandreas reminded the Commission that he had previously <br />presented a storefront proposal for the Plus Sizes unit and had <br />asked that the Commission look at a store front criteria. At <br />that time the Commission had approved the Plus Sizes unit, but <br />wanted to see how the standardized store front plan would <br />interact with the Plaza North renovation. He pointed out that, <br />at present, the storefronts vary greatly in materials, design, <br />vestibule characteristics etc., but the majority of store fronts <br />had a masonry sill with bronze anodized frames which they are <br />integrating into their criteria. He presented a colored <br />elevation of a portion of Plaza North which shows these <br />storefronts with the sidewalk and canopy treatment which they <br />will be presenting at a later date. He explained that he cannot <br />submit the entire renovation as yet since there are still some <br />details to be worked out, but he is confident that the neutral <br />shades with the brick piers would be included in those plans. <br />Holcomb's unit will be identical to the Plus Sizes unit which <br />was previously approved, and that there are five optional fronts <br />shown in the criteria all of which include vestibules to • <br />2
