? ...
?.?
comments of the Fire Department regarding the hydrant. Mr. Stoyanov ha.d met
with the fire inspector and they have agreed on a location. R. Bowen moved to
approve the Metro Lexus addition at 28450 Lorain Road with the one change to
the dumpster so that it is screened on the back and will be open on the east
side, and that the fire hydrant must be moved to a location as approved by
Assistant Fire Chief Osterhouse, seconded by T. Morgan, and unanimously
approved.
5) Harmon Glass, 25570 Lorain Road.
Exterior renovation to existing building.
Mr. Wieman, representing Harmon Glass Company, explained that they are only
installing an overhead door as shown. They primarily install glass in
automobiles and have mobile tmits which do the residential glass work. Mr.
Orlowski questioned why they needed a 16 foot wide door. He explained that -;
this would allow them to work on two vehicles at a time; and also their
employees take the vehicles home in the evening. Building Commissioner Conway
advised that they will have 26 parking spaces and are required to have 24. Mr.
Wieman stated that they intend to use an existing ground sign. Mr-: Conway
advised that this might be permitted, but he would have to check if the sign
is conforming. Mr. Lee, an adjacent neighbor, questioned where the door would
be and was wondering about truck deliveries. Mr. Wieman explained the plans
and advised that their deliveries were by van, not by semi tractors. He had no
objections to this proposal, however, he would like the two dumpsters enclosed
since they are beside his property. He pointed out that other people did use
the dumpsters. Mr. Wieman will have to check with the owner of the property.
Mr. Betts stated that this information should be included on this plan, and
suggested a material consistent with that of the building or some ki.nd of a
fence enclosure. After some discussion, it was decided that this proposal did
not have to go before the Architectural Board, and that he could present the
plans for enclosing the dumpsters to the B.Z.D. Committee. R. Bierman moved
to approve the exterior renovation at 25570 Lorain Road and recommend that a
dumpster location and fencing around the dumpsters be provided to the B.Z.D.,
seconded R. Bowen, and imanimously approved.
6) Halleen Chevrolet, 27932 Lorain Road.
Proposal to install chain link fence on property.
Mr. Giesser, attorney, explained that because of vandalism to the cars, the
insurance company had requested that a fence be installed on the west property
line. They are hoping that the 6 foot chain link fence will prevent people
from cutting through the lot and destroying the vehicles. The fence will
start at the barrier gate in the rear and comes south to the corner of the
lot. The members questioned why a fence was before the Planning Commission.
Building Commissioner Conway explained that there was nothing in the codes
regulating fences in the General Retail District. The members agreed that a
chain link fence, especially across from North Olmsted Park, would not be very
attractive, but they understood that there could be a need for it in tha.t
area, N1r. Geiser stated that a board on board fence would not be suitable on
the corner, and could be a hazard. They do not luiow what other kind of fence
could be used. Mr. Morgan mentioned the fence on the Burger King property that
had brick columns with a chain link fence which was fairly attractivee He
suggested that this be sent to the Architectural Board for any recommendations
that they might have. In the mean time the owners will check into other types
of fencing that might be used. Mr. Giesser stated that only one neighbor, "
4
