CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED
ARCHITECTURAL BOARD OF REVIE[d
MINUTES - MARCH 21, 1990
I. ROLL CALL:
Acting Chairman Zergott called the meeting to order at 5:35 p.m.
Present: T. Gallagher, Y. Sohn, and B. Zergott
Absent: M. Case
Also Present: Building Commissioner Conway and Clerk of Commissions Oring
II. REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES:
T. Gallagher moved to approve the minutes of February 21, 1990 as presented,
seconded by B. Zergott, and unanimously approved.
III. SIGNS: ,
Darby 0'Toole's shown on buildi:ng..plans.
IV. OLD BUSINESS:
No items.
V. NEG] BUSINESS:
1) Darby 0`Toole's, 24280 Lorain Road
Exterior renovation to building.
Heard by Planning Commission March 13, 1990.
Mr. Kelly, the owner, stated that there would be no structural changes,
that they will only be installing false plexiglass windows, and two
false doors; the building will be sided with a stained wood. It was
determined that the wood siding would actually be a walnut shade rather
than the redwood that was on the sample. There will be four 8 foot flor=
escent lights under the soffit. They want the building to resemble an
Irish pub. Mr. Sohn believes that the plexiglass (#2370 Bronze) is too
dark, he prefers something a little lighter. The owners will advise the
color number of the exact stain and the lighter plexiglass. Mr. Zergott
suggested that perhaps, in the future, they might put some planters iri
the front to so.ften the building, but this is not a condition of the
approval. B. Zergott moved to accept the improvement to Darby 0'Toole's
as presented with the condition that they notify the clerk as to what
color code number stain they will be using and that they use a lighter
plexiglass, seconded by T. Gallagher, and unanimously approved.
2) May Company, Great Northern Mall
Proposal to construct addition and exterior renovation to building.
Heard by Planning Commission March 13, 1990.
Mr. Amato, architect, explained that May Company will be renovating their
entire store and will be constructing two single story additions. The
smaller (3,500) square foot addition on'the north will be filling in the
existing colonade on the_lower level but they will be leaving the columns
